You should not be surprised by the decisions of NBC. They are using Ryan Seacrest, the man who tried to high five a blind guy.
Their commentators made fun when North Korea entered the stadium.

.

You're correct. I did not expect much from NBC, never really do. The tribute was wonderfully done but everything with them is always spun to politics instantly. Such a shame.

You know, ever since my "summer of the boot", I just can't master my floor exercise routine. Perhaps I should stick with the unevens....

I'll never understand the popularity of the Olympics. Half of the games aren't even sports, they're hobbies. Fencing, water polo, badminton.

I love when the Olympics come on. And there in London, my adopted home. I have never been there though. Would love to live there but there's so much red tape involved. But NBC is really really really really horrible not showing events live, showing basketball on two channels at the same time, creating a soccer channel but yet no commentary for it. And the worst of all....Meredith Viera and Bob Costas during the opening ceremony. Ryan Seacrest too.

I wish they would all shut up sometimes.

I enjoy the wide variety of events in the Olympics - some are actual sports, some are not. Regardless, it's interesting to see the world's athletes compete on a big stage.

The opening ceremonies were ponderous, as usual. Visually, they were pretty cool. The music section where they went from the 60s to present day was good, too. It would have been nice for the NBC announcers to have not yammered through "Going Underground" by the Jam, and I wish NBC had not cut away to commercial right at the opening chords of "Pretty Vacant" by the S*x Pistols. When they came back from commercial, they had skipped a bunch of the song.

I know NBC feels they have to find drama, but pitting Lochte against Phelps is ridiculous. Yes, they are individuals, but they're on the same team.

Here in London the ceremony was shown on the BBC which has no commercials, it was hard to know at what point to have a toilet break!

Their commentators made fun when North Korea entered the stadium.
Some of the comments being made during the Parade of Nations were getting on my last nerve. (Hence the reason I kept switching back & forth between NBC, and Harry Potter on ABC Family).

When Pakistan entered the stadium, one commentator mentioned how "the world is keeping an eye on Pakistan" in reference to the country being a threat. Ok, really, dude?? Is this really the time or place to bring that up? Those kids (yes, the atheletes are kids compared to my age) are giving their all for these games, and you have to bring up world problems/issues which these atheletes aren't even responsible for?? Give them their moment.

That one got me too - especially when the whole idea is the nations coming together for peaceful competition.

Speaking of peaceful competition:
*completely cuts off Nemo14 in the cross-country cycling race, causing Nemo to almost go into a ditch. Bob takes an outstanding lead toward the finish*

*heals quickly from handlebar-tampered accident, and humbly apologizes to the 3 German cyclists he took out during his crash. Proceeds to challenge Nemo14 to a canoe race (yet fails to mention the elaborately small holes he's drilled into the bottom of Nemo's boat*)

So I watched the interview after the men's 4x100 freestyle and US wins silver. The interviewer did not congratulate but try to pit the swimmers against each other trying to get them to explain why they did not win gold. Because we all know that second is just the first loser.

I know that they are each going for their individual goals but they are all part of TEAM USA. NBC, stop trying to drive wedges and create personal drama. Now they are doing the same thing to women's gymnastics. "As does it feel to beat out the current world champ (you can see Jordyn Wieber the current champ in tears 2 feet behind the girl) and advance to the final?" "Before we interview Jordyn Wieber we will give her time to collect her thoughts." Let's shove the camera in her face. (The heat from the camera lights should help dry her mascara)

You can't tell me that the producer did not have them get that shot on purpose. You interview one of the winning qualifiers with the "loser" crying in the same shot. NBC.... Nothing But C......

I'm done watching it. Capitalizing on the pain and defeat of others might fill their wallets, but I feel like they've lost their souls in the process. I miss the old ABC Wide World of Sports with the "thrill of victory and the agony of defeat".
