Graduated from Nursing School with honors (__Suma __________ laude) on May 21st! Just got back from our well deserved Disneyworld vacation on Tuesday. Now its time to get ready for the dreaded NCLEX exam coming up in a month or so. I can only hope for the best! Congratulations to all that have graduated. The future is filled with new and exciting opportunities for you.

Can someone confirm that you don't really celebrate 8th Grade Grad as much as we do in Canada? Some U.S. friends asked me why we celebrate it, and I was surprised to hear that they don't.
Maybe it's because we don't have middle school...

We didn't, but many school advancements are celebrated far more by others than my class did. All we had was an awards banquet and a dance. (Granted I did graduate 8th grade like 9 years ago...) Getting out of 8th grade is definitely a big accomplishment, but I guess it's just not as big of a deal (at least at Stuart Middle School in Louisville, KY).

When I was in school we had 8th grade grad and HS grad. Now it seems like every grade has graduation. At least around here.

Congrats to everyone who graduated or is graduating

I had an 8th graduation ceremony, along with a banquet. Afterwards, as part of our celebration, we were taken to Knotts Berry farm to celebrate. Around where I live, it is known as 8th grade day. A Very well thought out name, isn't it?

In 8th grade, we didn't have a graduation ceremony. We had an 8th grade dance, which most girls perceived as their senior prom because they went all out for it (I just bought a dress and asked my best guy friend to go with me...no biggie). We also had an awards ceremony, where I won excellence in French oh la la!

Okay GUYS...

So my ceremonies done... I graduated and had prom.... it was fantastic!!

It was so pretty, like a wonderland... my hair looked great and so did my dress! My boyfriend looked adorable and he actually managed to get me a corsage that matched quite nicely...

It was like a dream! Only problem is we got so... ummm... tipsy, that we had to postpone our camping trip to next week...

I hope all of your grads are proms are just as good or better than mine, and I'll be posting pictures soon!

I graduated from high school 3 years ago tomorrow. It does NOT seem like its been that long! I was reminiscing with my friends last night and it was weird to realize how long its been.

My brother graduates from Rochester High School on June 8. He'll be joining me at Michigan State in the fall.

So, you have prom after graduation? We had ours about a month and a half before. We can't get tipsy at Northshore, they check...

Yep, we have our grad and then go STRAIGHT into Prom... we wear our dresses underneath our robes. And yes, we can get tipsy... or even massively drunk... nobody cares. We've done our job, we're intelligent people and we've been friendly and polite (well not really...) for the past two months.

I never knew that people had prom before grad... we have them on the same night. Weird...

Well I graduated 20 years ago but the schools around here have always had their proms in the beginning of may and graduate at the end of may or beginning of june.

Wow... yeah thats how I thought it went too, but they've always done it like this in my school... seems kinda cheap, now that I think about it... combining the whole party into one big fiasco.. hmm...

I know what you mean about the dance. Our 8th grade dance was the same way. Several of the kids rented limos for it! Yeah, kinda a lot for a dance in the middle school gym. My mom made my dress and I got my makeup done for free at Dillards (or they may have still been Bacons, I don't remember what year they changed over). It looked awful and was too heavy! And I got my hair french braided at Fantastic Sams. And I felt super special. It was a big deal at the time! At my awards ceremony, I was awarded Who's Who at Stuart Middle school and I got a certificate signed by the president for academic achievement. It was kinda cool.

Ah yes the limos! The limos, the long gowns, and the up-dos. Good times, good times
