Get a crane and undo the bolts... and an absailer to remove the stars on SE!!

Or just a big wrecking ball since they were so careful with Horizons (sarc) (RIP) :fork:

I remember 20k more now that i saw that video!!! i remember how ridiculously cheezy it was yet as a 5 yr old i was soooooo scared of it. Kinda makes me remember alien encounter, although that is a ride i was sad to see go unlike 20k...

Not sure.
It was built to last up to 10 years, which would be around 2009.
However, from what I gather it may not see another year. I'll try to nail it down better.

It'll be nice when that's removed. Any chance of them removing the Sorceror Mickey hat from MGM? :D

As for 20K Leagues...I rather enjoyed the lagoon being there. It was a pleasant place to sit by while eating my Monstro pretzel. I hope it's not getting destroyed simply for the sake of another 'meet and greet'.

The Sorcerer Hat is very popular (far more than the Wand) and the official park icon for the Disney-MGM Studios. So no.

I know, just wishful thinking on my part. I really think it stinks out like a sore thumb and messes up the straight shot visual of the Chinese Theatre as you enter MGM.

I disagree...I like the hat, in fact I think it makes the park more Disneyesque...it sure makes for a nice icon for the Studios (to each his own I guess)...now if they would only replace GMR with a Disney heroes vs. villains ride...that would be great....

Good thing Captain Nemo moved to Japan, he'd be pretty ed off if he found his lagoon filled in. Then he'd probably destroy us all.:lookaroun

This has been needed for a LONG time, it was really an eyesore.

A part of me still hates to hear about the last remnants being removed, because as a kid I used to like this ride so much. But it really WAS dated, and keeping the empty lagoon there for the past 10 years was an incredible waste of prime real estate.

Lets hope for something big and spectacular down the road!

I guess I never really considered it an eyesore. To me, something has to be in pretty bad condition to be an eyesore. I'll admit, I don't exactly gaze deep down into the waters lovingly very often, but I never thought the lagoon looked to be in poor condition. If there were huge spires of rusty metal sticking out of it all over that would be a different story.

The sooner the better to get rid of that tacky wand at Epcot.
I hate to disappoint you, but the wand is going to stay right where it is (for a while longer)
