Whatever they put here, I'd like to see the lagoon remain. They can tear out the building and seal the opening between the building and the lagoon. It's a pretty area with the landscaping and rocks, and a walkway around its perimiter could do a lot to ease traffic congestion around the teacups/indy/toontown area, particularly if an E-ticket goes in behind it somewhere.

I'm not sure how I feel about the whole Harry Potter rumor...I know it'd be out of place at the MK, but not too bad in another park.
Whatever happened to the rumor that they couldn't drain the laggoon for whatever structural reasons..I'd thought I read somewhere that since it was over the locker rooms, they couldn't remove it??

They are going to put Storybook Canal boats and Casey Junior in the area. Those have always been missing from MK.

I thought that if they drained it then the walls would collapse flooding the costume areas in the utilidors!?
Fantasyland reclamation, refurbishment projects begin soon
Date: 04/16/2004
Two major refurbishment projects will begin soon in Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom Park.
On April 19, workers will install a construction wall around the former 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea attraction as part of a seven-month project to clear the land and add landscape for future use. At this time, there are no other plans for the site.
The "it's a small world" attraction will close this summer for an extensive refurbishment as Walt Disney Imagineers install enhanced audio and refurbish the characters and indoor sets. The attraction is scheduled to reopen in spring 2005.
Construction Walls Around the former 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Attraction
Date: 04/16/2004
Beginning Monday, April 19, a construction wall will go up around the site of the former 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea attraction. This will begin a seven-month project to clear the land as well as add landscape for future use. Since it closed in 1994, we've considered a variety of plans for the attraction, including refurbishing it. However, we've come to the conclusion that reclaiming the land for unspecified future development is the best use of this location. This is great news for our Cast and our Guests, as this work demonstrates our continued commitment to providing an unparalleled Guest experience.
