How about Pageant of the Seasons for Fantasy Seasons? Do it like a beautiful Cirque du Soleil Show, with original concepts and graceful dance. Use a seating arrangement like Festival of the Lion King, divided into four sections for the seasons. Design costumes to make Julie Taymor jealous, like stilt walker sticks, gliding leaves, ballerina snowflakes, whatnot. Full of acrobatics and abstract imagery. Also projection mapping why not.

Week 6
Head of Household
Blue Sky Stages

View attachment 508117

One thing Blue Sky Disneyland feels like it's missing is a couple of large, grand shows that can keep massive groups of guests occupied for anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes. Why don't we fix that? Your Head of Household challenge this week is to create two unique, large scale stage shows somewhere in the park, one indoors in a lavish theatre environment, the other outdoors to be located in your hub, Port Voyage. Communication will be key between the two groups to ensure that there is minimal overlap between your two shows. Keep in mind, the sky is the limit with this project. We expect some realism but many things are possible with theatrical technologies both indoors and outdoors.

Whoever stands out in their contributions to this project will be awarded Head of Household.

The Project will be due on Wednesday, October 28 at 11:59:59 PM EST/ 8:59:59 PM PST.
Ok, my initial thoughts:

I believe it would be most effective to do one of the shows in our strongest land out of the whole park. My mind goes to HarborTown, but there was already a lake show from the submission, so that is a bit of a head-scratcher.

Ok, just had a sweeeet idea while writing this. I'm not sure where to put it, but having a show that was sort-of like the tapestry of nations parade from Epcot would be really cool.

Ok, so immediate reactions to this prompt is there's two shows we have to make, and there's nine of us (I believe?). So I suggest the following:
  • Four people work on the Theater Show
  • Four people work on the Outdoors Port Voyage Show
  • One person manages everything and ensures cohesion
I think this organization structure would help keep everything in line, plus it will be a lot easier to distribute jobs and work together as a proper team compared to earlier rounds, where everything was so open-ended and typically relegated to individual projects tied to a certain theme.

For ideas, I think we should make the sit-down show in CenterCore Expo. Of the lands, Harbortown, Adventure Atoll, and Four Seasons Square already have sit-down shows, and Seasons of Fantasy has been critiqued as too large already by the judges so I worry adding anything there. Whereas in CenterCore we have the space to create something more unique for the judges: maybe some vague spiritual successor to Carrousel of Progress? Or we could do something completely original.

For the live show, I'd just make it be a grand culmination of a night in Disneyland _____. Try to tie all the lands together in a single thesis statement show.

Well, my mind actually goes back to my CemterCore Twilight Party, and I'm in all seriousness with this.

Even though it's not going to be an up-charge event (or will it?), It's a really good idea that can be used for something really good if possible.

Just one of many ideas to pitch, I don't want to force anything on anybody this time around.

Also, are fireworks out of the question @mickeyfan5534

I'm up for working on the theater show, and I agree with setting it in CenterCore Expo.

If we wanted to do a vague spiritual successor to Carousel of Progress, perhaps it could be a live show of someone witnessing the march of progress and evolution of technology. For instance, maybe a Victorian inventor is struggling with some new creation and how others deride him, until a "Spirit of Progress" (for lack of a better term) brings him along on a fantastical trip through time. It'd be a way of showing how each step forward, no matter how small, evolves and improves the world around us.

So far we have

Harbortown U.S.A.- Muppet Hamilton
Port Voyage- N/A
Adventure Atoll- Tales Around the World & Kanikani o te Motu
Seasons of Fantasy- N/A
Four Winds Square- Small World: One Song
CenterCore Expo- N/A

So based on this, and where we have to do an outdoor show (castle show I’d assume) in Port Voyage, and the other in one of the lands, but this has all been brought up already.

I’ll be honest, this wasn’t a project I was prepared for, and having so many shows already limits us, so I’m gonna think on it, but I probably won’t be on much today as I’m going to my family’s camp in the boonies and won’t have any cell reception

To clarify, we're looking for something like Fantasmic or a Tokyo Disneyland-style castle stage show for that big outdoor show and a Mickey and the Adjective Noun-type show for the Broadway-style theatre show. That said, as I mentioned earlier, you can work in a formula (a la the Mickey and the Adjective Noun format) and still produce something unique and original.

In a nutshell: no fireworks are not totally out of the question but they should be present in a more supplementary role (like they are in Fantasmic) than a straight fireworks show.

@PerBound & @OutGron are spot on. About the task division, about the best locations.

The outdoor castle show in Port Voyage would be our big nightly spectacular. Go nuts with the effects! Projection mapping in the Castle, colored LED fountains in front of it, pyrotechnics in the facade, fireworks behind, maybe a platform in the front where live performers let loose. Use the usual “IP grab bag” framework - with an artful concept to unify everything like Fantasmic uses - to make this fully “Disney.”

The theater show I feel should be very different from this. Use no IPs whatsoever! Despite @mickeyfan5534 ’s passionate plea that we mindlessly imitate what happens already (seriously, that!), I say we look beyond Disney! What are the best live shows in Las Vegas? Macau? The world? If we do something wholly original, there’s no worry about overlapping with the caste show, and we’d have real passion behind it!

...Hence my drunken proposal last night for a Cirque du Soleil Show about the Seasons. I still stand by that. With amazing abstract costumes like Lion King on Broadway...no mere trotting out the Disney felt heads like usual! Or use the same Cirque framework in CenterCore with a theme about the Planets! To keep that “sea” element which comes and goes, take inspiration from this beast:

If we wind up folding in a “Mickey & the Adjective Verb” framing device, so be it, but let’s start with something beautiful & unique & inspiring!

Was it that passionate?
