16 Days of Disney! A Wedding and Disneymoon Trip Report!

Introduction

Welcome to my Disney World Wedding and Disneymoon trip report! For the full pre-trip report, click here.

I’ve decided to start by introducing…

The Full Cast

First (copypasta!) there’s me:
8323362919_c9cffbceda_o.jpg

24 year old, prior-Air Force, college student with a possibly unhealthy love for Disney and Disney World in particular. This makes my fourth trip to Disney World since my very first trip in 2009.

Coda:
8324421344_3e7a5884bb_o.jpg

27 year old merchant marine. This is his second trip to Disney World.

Coda’s twin (yep, twin, honestly) brother, Levi, and his girlfriend, Carolyn:
8323362741_364a4506ab_o.jpg

Levi's first (and only) trip was in 2010, and Carolyn hasn't been since she was a kid.

My mom, dad, and my brother, Michael:
8323362813_8823bbba79_o.jpg

This is everyone's first trip!

Coda’s mom and sister, SuHana:
Apparently we have absolutely no pictures of Coda's mom... So this is Coda and SuHana.
8323362673_ddc7322e1b_o.jpg

Also their first trip.

Our friend, Reuben and his son, Cy:
8324435844_567842d96d_o.jpg

Yep, their first trip too!

Wow! Can I just say that I will never bring this many people to Disney World (or anywhere else, for that matter) EVER again! Levi and Carolyn joined us from December 15th – 22nd, and they were great! Reuben and Cy were there from the 16th – 22nd, but man, they were a handful. My family and Coda’s mom and sister arrived on the 20th and left on the 22nd and that was complete madness. I promise, we’ll get to that.

The Plan

This trip was supposed to be completely stress free! Key word here is “supposed”. Shockingly, it was not.

We ended up arriving a day early on the 14th. The first few days were mainly for Coda to spend time with his brother and friend Reuben. Coda’s brother, Levi, lives in Alaska (for those of you who are geographically challenged, that is many miles from North Carolina), and they hadn’t seen each other in over a year. The 20th through the 22nd were days to spend with family and, most importantly, get married. Finally, the 23rd through the 29th was our honeymoon. Again, supposed to be stress- and drama-free…

Oh, there was also much consumption of Disney food planned.

Next up: How things actually played out.

Day Eleven

We were up bright and early at 6:30am. We grabbed breakfast in the room and headed out. Coda had decided that we needed to go to Hollywood Studios for Extra Magic Hours in order to ride anything, which was definitely the case. We got to DHS just as it was opening and headed straight to Tower of Terror! With no line at all, we walked directly into the Tower.

8331513341_55afb27755_z.jpg

Sadly, some guy in the front row put his hands in the air and completely blocked my face, so we didn’t get a picture of our only ToT ride together. :( But we did get some photopass pictures!

Notice the lack of crowds in the background! Then she told us to look scared. I’m not really sure what happened…

8328820864_6dfb0cd3d1_z.jpg

Next was Rock N Roller Coaster! Coda told me to hold my head away from the headrest so I wouldn’t get a headache and it actually worked! My first RnRC ride with no headache after! Such an awesome ride!

We decided to snag some Toy Story Midway Mania fastpasses and then saw that the new Jack Sparrow thing was open. We were first in line and stood there for a good 15 minutes waiting for our turn. Finally, they let us in!

The skull talked to us for a few minutes before letting us into the main show.

The show was pretty cool! The combination of projections and holograms made the entire experience something totally new!

By the time we got out, Voyage of the Little Mermaid was just about to open. Neither of us had ever seen it, so we were both really excited. The show was really amazing! I’m so upset that I had never seen it! The live actor/puppet combo was really spectacular! But I’m sure you all know that. ;)

On the way to Star Tours we stopped for the Great Movie Ride since there wasn’t much of a line and neither of us had done that either. We got a lucky break since they needed a party of two and basically skipped the line altogether. I have to say (and I’m so sorry) I didn’t care for it at all. It was painfully slow and neither of us knew what most of the movies were. I think that it definitely needs a major update. While I think that some classics should remain, this ride is soon going to be lost on most of the new generation.

Once that was over, we made our way to Star Tours so that Coda could ride. I sat outside and watched Jedi training, which was adorable, as always!

Finally, it was time for TSMM! It is so nice not having to stand in that huge line! It was a super fun ride and Coda beat me by a long shot.

After Toy Story, it was time for us to head out. We had plans for the rest of the day, but we did have dinner reservations at DHS later in the evening. We took the boat to the Beach Club where we were planning to get some lunch at Beaches and Cream. We didn’t realize that it was a table service restaurant! But we were planning on paying out of pocket anyway, and we were lucky enough to get a table without a wait! I had a bowl of chili and Coda had the turkey club, but we were really there for dessert!

8332548468_ab5f6454c4_z.jpg

Mine was the No Way Jose and his was something with Oreos. It was SOOOOO good! I only ate about half of mine, but this is the after picture once Coda was done with them:

8331489631_652bfa4889_z.jpg

Clearly, they were amazing. After lunch (read: dessert) we planned to go to Fantasia Gardens for some relaxing mini golf. We were told by the Beach Club staff that the walk was extremely long and that we would be better off taking a cab. We decided to take our chances with walking. Once again, I was amazed at the perceived laziness of Disney World guests. Fantasia Gardens was a lot of fun and such a needed escape from the insane crowds.

Of course, Coda beat the hell out of me. As we were returning our gear, we were given two limited edition golf balls by the Fantasia Gardens staff in celebration of our honeymoon!

We walked back towards Epcot and stopped at the bakery to look around. Since we were still really full from lunch, we didn’t buy anything. Then we walked through Epcot and stopped at the art store to order a Belle and Beast wedding sketch with our names and wedding date!

By this time we were exhausted and ready to get back to the hotel. We hopped a bus and got back to our room around 4. Our dinner reservation at the Sci-Fi Dine-in Theater was at 6:40 and it was at this time that we decided to cancel it. We made reservations at Sanaa instead! We passed out for a little over an hour before getting ready for dinner. On the way to dinner we stopped to watch this guy:

8331454857_d9b7b6a33b_z.jpg

Santa was in the lobby and his assistant stopped us and talked us into a picture.

8332507706_50ac9bd305_z.jpg

And I spotted a hidden Mickey while we were waiting for a table!

8332505852_580cf3e7cd_z.jpg

We ordered basically the exact same thing as the first time we were there, except this time there was no family drama to go along with it! The bread service was excellent! Oh how I love eating bread!!!

We made the long hike back to our room and went to bed after a really long but fun day!

Up next: Free breakfast and DTD

I've never seen VotLM either! I wanted to last time, but you know how it goes. You say you're going to do something then completely do the opposite. Next time! :p

They told me that Spiderman was a simulator and I would probably get sick. But they still felt that it was a good idea to take me on HP. I don't know about these people...

I had to comment on this because it reminded me so much of how I felt after my husband convinced me to ride Mission Space. He knows I am extremely claustrophobic, he assured me it wasn't that small in there. So I got on with my daughter, the door shut, the console moved forward and I spent three and a half minutes with my eyes closed trying to calm my pounding heart, hoping my eight year old wouldn't notice that mommy was "losing it". When I got off I wanted to as you put it; punch my husband in the throat.
Congratulations on your wedding!

Your photos are seriously making me reconsider staying at AKL. I am from Florida and was strictly a no-deluxe kinda gal but I dunno now.....Same thing goes for the photopass. I was always anti-photo pass but I am loving these photos!

I finally caught up! So glad you made it to Universal. Forbidden Journey made me nauseous, but I had to try it.
I love Butterbeer too, but I can't take too much of it. It's so sweet!

I don't even know what to say about the family drama. Wow. Just wow. I'm so sorry.
Your wedding pictures are stunning. You look absolutely gorgeous! Not shaking like a leaf at all!
And the Epcot pictures? Wow! Totally worth it.

Beautiful pictures. Sorry to hear about your wedding. My wedding totally sucked but it was my families fault. I felt so sorry for my hubby but, he promised we can renew our vows at Disney when our children get a little older. Shooting for 2018!!!!

Yep, that's been going on during my last three trips. I finally decided to head over!

Ha! I don't understand why they think that by saying it's not that bad, it won't be that bad! And thank you!

Haha! At least you got a wedding gift! :p

AKL was awesome! We had a great experience with photopass this time! I definitely recommend it!

Yea!!! I'm glad you liked RnR!!! Love that giraffe. So cool.

He was hilarious! He stood there eating a branch full of leaves for 10 minutes!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! We really wanted to punch Reuben a few times too...

lol.... I'm speechless. Love your TR. And here I thought that I had family issues. :)

Congradulations on your wedding!!

Thank you!

Forbidden Journey made me want to die! lol! And I could never get enough butterbeer! The only thing that made me refrain from multiple glasses was the knowledge of calories...

Thank you so much! The family drama was ridiculous, but I'm glad it's over. The Epcot shoot was definitely worth it! It was an amazing experience!

I am loving that all the family drama is over! It is written all over your face in these pictures, you both look about a million times more relaxed.

Haha! Thank you! We were so much more relaxed after they left.

Day Twelve

Today we had our first reservations at Boma! We walked over to Jambo House and found Boma just in time to check in. We knew we had to pay for a meal out of pocket and we were discussing whether to pay for this one. The man in front of us in line heard us talking and invited us to eat with him and his two kids! He had gotten the deluxe dining plan and had quite a few meals left over. Since he was checking out today, he offered to “pay” for us! We happily agreed and sat down to a meal with him and his two lovely children.

The meal was pretty pleasant. We learned that the family was from Canada and this was their first trip to Disney World. While the kids enjoyed it, the father did not. They hadn’t made any ADRs (on the deluxe plan!) and had eaten the majority of their meals at Boma. The staff all knew them by name! They had visited Jiko and he didn’t like that at all either. He was really nice, but the meal became awkward when he began telling us how his wife had let him put her through school and then cleaned out his account and left him… Weird. Before we left, he gave us his Key to the World Card and told us we could use whatever was left on it. It was clear that he hadn’t known anything about the deluxe plan. There were still 5 meals and 24 snacks left on it! But we had to use them before the end of the day since they were checking out.

Our plan for the day was that we had no plan. We hopped a bus for DTD and decided to just take it easy! There was a photopass photographer as we arrived.

8329307353_8452fc98b7_z.jpg

Our first stop was Goofy’s Candy Company where we used several of our snacks on various items including cake pops, cookies, and I made a chocolate covered rice crispy treat! Next we went to find Babycakes. I’d read some good things and they had a red velvet cupcake that Coda was dying to try. We got a box full of cupcakes and cupcake tops! Then it was over to the theater.

We got tickets to The Hobbit and headed inside. Do any of you have theaters like this in your town?! It was amazing! The seats were so comfortable and it was so cool that we walked in around the screen! The movie…

We were pretty disappointed in The Hobbit. It was a complete let down when compared with The Lord of the Rings trilogy. It was CGI’d to death. Every character besides the people was CGI. It completely cheapened the experience for me. Anyway, enough on that.

After the movie was over, we got up to leave and the backpack dumped! Our two limited edition golf balls were in there! We started looking, but they had obviously rolled away. Immediately, three men asked if they could help. There were five of us roaming around the theater looking for these golf balls! The other guys said it didn’t matter what it was, if it was important to us we were gonna find it! Only at Disney World… We found them!

After that experience, we went over to World of Disney for some assistance. We had received these from our wedding coordinator after our wedding:

8335246062_0c40d80574_z.jpg

8334190561_f672f60b41_z.jpg

They were way too big, so we went to the jewelry counter and had them sized correctly. They were so much help! So now we have these awesome Disney watches that can’t be bought and they actually fit!

We made one last stop at Goofy’s to use up the rest of our snacks and headed to the busses. OH. MY. GOD. The traffic was completely insane! Because we got on the bus at the Marketplace, the busses were all in the right lane trying to turn. It took us nearly an hour to get from the Marketplace to Pleasure Island. I was so irritated by the time we got to the hotel! Now I know to get on the bus at PI.

Dinner was at Boma and was just as amazing as breakfast! The dessert menu was spectacular! But I have to say, the Zebra Domes were just okay. I didn’t think they lived up to all the hype.

After dinner we headed back to our room where I made good use of the heating pad I’d brought with me and then passed out. It was such a relaxing day! It was definitely much needed.

Up next: Epcot in the rain and dessert party

Awesome score on the free meals and snacks! Too bad it was awkward, but I think I would have sat through it for the freebies! :) Beautiful watches! Those are really sharp looking! We love dinner at Boma too. We haven't been there for breakfast yet, but LOVE dinner! I feel the same about the Zebra Domes. They are ok, but I liked the bread pudding they had much better!
