16 Days of Disney! A Wedding and Disneymoon Trip Report!

Introduction

Welcome to my Disney World Wedding and Disneymoon trip report! For the full pre-trip report, click here.

I’ve decided to start by introducing…

The Full Cast

First (copypasta!) there’s me:
8323362919_c9cffbceda_o.jpg

24 year old, prior-Air Force, college student with a possibly unhealthy love for Disney and Disney World in particular. This makes my fourth trip to Disney World since my very first trip in 2009.

Coda:
8324421344_3e7a5884bb_o.jpg

27 year old merchant marine. This is his second trip to Disney World.

Coda’s twin (yep, twin, honestly) brother, Levi, and his girlfriend, Carolyn:
8323362741_364a4506ab_o.jpg

Levi's first (and only) trip was in 2010, and Carolyn hasn't been since she was a kid.

My mom, dad, and my brother, Michael:
8323362813_8823bbba79_o.jpg

This is everyone's first trip!

Coda’s mom and sister, SuHana:
Apparently we have absolutely no pictures of Coda's mom... So this is Coda and SuHana.
8323362673_ddc7322e1b_o.jpg

Also their first trip.

Our friend, Reuben and his son, Cy:
8324435844_567842d96d_o.jpg

Yep, their first trip too!

Wow! Can I just say that I will never bring this many people to Disney World (or anywhere else, for that matter) EVER again! Levi and Carolyn joined us from December 15th – 22nd, and they were great! Reuben and Cy were there from the 16th – 22nd, but man, they were a handful. My family and Coda’s mom and sister arrived on the 20th and left on the 22nd and that was complete madness. I promise, we’ll get to that.

The Plan

This trip was supposed to be completely stress free! Key word here is “supposed”. Shockingly, it was not.

We ended up arriving a day early on the 14th. The first few days were mainly for Coda to spend time with his brother and friend Reuben. Coda’s brother, Levi, lives in Alaska (for those of you who are geographically challenged, that is many miles from North Carolina), and they hadn’t seen each other in over a year. The 20th through the 22nd were days to spend with family and, most importantly, get married. Finally, the 23rd through the 29th was our honeymoon. Again, supposed to be stress- and drama-free…

Oh, there was also much consumption of Disney food planned.

Next up: How things actually played out.

I've been following your TR and just wanted to say Congrats to you and Coda!! I'm sorry about how hectic the first part of your trip was, I know all about crazy mother in laws, thankfully when you divorce a husband you also divorce his mother :D. Your pictures are AMAZING and your wedding pictures are beautiful, especially in Epcot. Can't wait to read your next installment!

Oh I agree! Your favorite picture is gorgeous!
That is kind of funny about the ladies next to you just sitting down! Pretty brazen!
Loving the report! :)

Haha! I know, those ladies were insane! I can't even imagine how they got in with all the security on the bridge!

Wow I can't believe those two ladies just sat down. Did they think someone wouldn't notice? lol some people.... sheesh!!

I'm super excited to meet the Beast in his study!! I think I've only ever met him once at DHS (back when itwas MGM) and I was in 6th grade.

Haha! I know! They were certainly brave! ;) Beast in his study was so much fun!

Dang! I just read that blog it looks so yummy! My post Princess Half Marathon meal definitely includes a trip to the caramel shop in Germany and hopefully I will be able to get a glass of it; otherwise I will settle for the kind I can chew maybe wrapped on an apple :D Either way its a win!

I hope you get to try it, because it was truly amazing!

Great pics.I love a happy ending.;)

Thank you! :D

Oooh, I've got to look out for the glazed almonds. Yum! Your castle/carousel picture is really neat!

They are so yummy! And thanks! I just turned around and there it was! I couldn't not take a picture.

I loved this trip report! It definitely made me even more grateful my mother-in-law lives 2000 miles away. :)

Ha! So does mine, thank goodness! We're in NC and she's in Washington state!

This is a great TR so far!! Congrats! and can't wait to read more!

Thank you! So sorry about the delay! This past week has been insane!

Day Fifteen

The day started with some early packing so we wouldn’t have to do it later and saw these guys outside!

8355249066_7f94e8ca62_z.jpg

After we’d gotten a good amount done, we headed over to the Mara, which we had a little bit of trouble finding! It’s really hidden if you don’t know where to go. But we found it and it was such a great find!

I had the curry (excellent!):

8355241452_8813b2d3b3_z.jpg

And we both had a cupcake (also excellent!):

8355244718_2e6777e919_z.jpg

After lunch (since we completely skipped breakfast), we headed over to DHS…

8329257235_a47ebd6647_z.jpg

…and ran to Tower of Terror for a fastpass! Next was the Backlot Tour. Coda had never done it and I hadn’t done it since 2009. So we headed over and got in line, which wasn’t too long at all, despite the insane crowds. Coda really enjoyed the action sequence on the water, but he was really jealous of the people that got to be in the shoot! We both really enjoyed the prop warehouse portion of the tour.

8355237436_48b4a6b842_z.jpg

And we both, of course, really enjoyed the ride through the graveyard and the canyon. The costume department is always fun!

Then it was time for our Fantasmic package lunch at Hollywood & Vine. It wasn’t our first choice, but we didn’t want to use the extra point for the Brown Derby, and the Mama Melrose reviews were just as bad as H&V. So off we went. The meal itself wasn’t bad and the service was acceptable. My main problem was the shared bathroom with 50’s! There are only a few stalls and the line was out the door! Whose idea was this? We both enjoyed the dessert offerings at the buffet, so it was pretty good overall. I wouldn’t call it Hollywood & Vile!

After our early dinner we decided to hit up the Muppets since there was such a short line! We headed in after the pre-show and really enjoyed the show. But after we had some time to kill before Fantasmic. So… we went here!

8355203732_712a31941c_z.jpg

8354143485_72db3f1199_z.jpg

The show was really informative and enjoyable! But every kid in the room had passed out before the end of the video! When we got done, we made a loop and went to check out what we had missed in the “museum” before. And then it was time for Fantasmic! But it had started raining! We sat down in the stadium and pulled out a snuggie to cover our heads. They announced several times that the show may be cancelled and people got up and left. But the show did go on (even though the rain didn’t stop)!

8355154810_baec08397f_z.jpg

I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure the dragon is new. Can anyone confirm?

8354089689_0aae59b819_z.jpg

After the show, our ToT fastpasses were up! We headed through and jumped right on! Such a fun ride, as always! But no picture. :( Then we wanted to see the Osborne Lights! So we headed in that direction, and met someone unexpected on the way!

8354085389_81a10bdc58_z.jpg

8355146108_48c6497b21_z.jpg

Finally, we had made it!

8355142626_c5bcefdd74_z.jpg

The lights were amazing!!!

8355131176_f9b37dbc53_z.jpg

Coda, who loves Christmas lights, was completely in awe of them! And we found this guy!

8355113840_7317d889d3_z.jpg

Then the rain began to pour! I mean, REALLY come down! We stopped for glazed pecans and gingerbread hot chocolate. We had to wait a few minutes because they were making a new batch of pecans and we wanted several bags for the road tomorrow. The gingerbread hot chocolate could only be purchased in the souvenir mugs, so they were kind of spendy, but I’d heard how amazing it was and we splurged. Unfortunately, we weren’t impressed. It was a little too spicy and neither of us finished all of it. Once we had everything, we darted over to a shop and got me an umbrella since Coda had decided to take mine out of the backpack that morning for some reason.

We had meals to use up and Coda was getting hungry. Not to mention, I had been on the hunt for the Pirates of the Caribbean cupcake all night! We went to ABC Commissary where I found…

8355105146_f27ceaae72_z.jpg

A PotC cupcake! And to make it even better, they somehow tacked it on to our quick service meal for free, even though Coda got a cupcake too! I’m sure the girl messed something up, but I sure wasn’t complaining!

8354040433_767a4247ea_z.jpg

Oh. My. Goodness! The cupcake was awesome! So was everything included with it! Totally would have been worth the $9 if it hadn’t been free! ;)

8355101258_415dc5c36d_z.jpg

We headed back to the busses after we ate and waited in the rain for our bus to show up. We got back to the hotel and finished packing for the morning and Coda went down to load the car as much as we could the night before. Then it was off to bed!

Up next: Boma and a long trip home.

The dragon at Fantasmic isn't new, but I'm not 100% sure if it's been that same dragon the whole time or if it's received an "upgrade" since Fantasmic started. I feel like I remember the dragon being a little more "plain" that the one they have now, but I could be wrong. But the dragon has been there for as long as I remember.

Those cupcakes look super yummy!!! I love a good cupcake! :)

Getting all caught up again!

That 4 ounces of salted Caramel look AMAZING. I must get myself one in May.

And how did that daughter and mother get in in the first place? Don't they usually have CMs by the door at Be Our Guest? I cannot wait to eat there for dinner and meet the Beast in his own Castle! It's going to be great.

And super jealous of that view at AKL. I wouldn't want to drag myself outta there!

I know the dragon has always been there, but I meant updated, I guess. He definitely looks different in my opinion! All of the cupcakes from this trip were excellent! I can't wait for more! :p

It's not even my trip, and I'm feeling a little sad that it is almost over.

Me too. :(

I always get so sad as TRs come to an end! :(

So do I, which is why I put off the last day for like, ever. ;)

The caramel was amazing! And that was my thought about the ladies at BoG! It blew my mind! You know, I spent more time at AKL than I ever have at a resort - and no, it wasn't just because it was my honeymoon! ;) Animal Kingdom Lodge is a truly amazing place. I almost didn't mind the 15-minute walk to our room!

Day Sixteen

I have put this off for way too long, but I’ve purposely been avoiding it. I hate to end this TR! But without further ado, here’s our last day.

We woke up at 6:15 to get ready for the long drive. We were both extremely grumpy, which is what tends to happen when we both get up early without a whole lot of sleep. We made a few trips to the car and once that was loaded up I went to the desk and Coda drove the car around. I got us checked out and then we drove over to Jambo House for breakfast.

We had reservations for Boma and it was just as great as the first time. But we still had two quick service meals left! After breakfast we went over to the Mara to use them. Coda got a couple of sandwiches for the road and I went to the gift shop to wait for him. I had my heart set on a heart-shaped bamboo plant, but I left it up to Coda to get one or not and he didn’t. I was really bummed out over it, but I didn’t say anything, cause I’m a woman and sometimes we’re just complicated. Finally, we were on the road. :(

We had originally planned to stop and get some Magic Cookie Bars on our way out at POR, but Coda decided we should get driving and not waste any time. Again, bummed. But I think the overall mood of the day made everything more depressing than it really was. We passed three Disney outlets on the way, but we opted to drive straight through. Boo. Oh well...

At one point on the drive home, I couldn’t find my phone anywhere! Until Coda pointed out I was holding it in my hand… Coda made me promise to put that in my report. So… there ya go!

Coda talked for a while about how sad he was that he hadn’t decided to have his picture taken with Rapunzel and I. In fact, he was so intent on the conversation that he completely missed our exit and we ended up on back roads for the rest of the drive home! As soon as we got home and got everything out of the car, he insisted that we watch Tangled. Haha! Men are an interesting lot…

Anyway, that’s the end of our 16 Day Wedding and Disneymoon trip report! I hope you’ve enjoyed it as much as I have!

So where is the fairy tale ending part? You know, where you put down in writing when you're going back?;) Loved your report, so sad it is over.

Haha! Check out my signature! We're going back on April 7th for a dessert party! ;) Next trip after that will hopefully be around November (though we might try to make it to DLR instead). We're looking into doing a cruise in February '14 if all goes well, and then I'm taking my mom to WDW in November '14. A trip to DLP is in the works for 2015. There is DEFINITELY a fairytale ending! :D

Loved this trip report!!! I laughed over your "missing" phone. I was frantically hunting for mine one day...while I was talking on it. I couldn't for the life of me figure out where I had left it! The bad thing is that my friend that I was on the phone with was trying to give me suggestions of where it could be. Thats when you know it has been a long week!
