Tbh I'd skip BOG. Since the prix fixe I don't think it's worth the stress of booking or the price. Especially if paying adult price for a kids meal.
I get it, and the logical part of me says you're right, but my daughter didn't get to meet the Beast the last time we went because we did the lunch instead. And Belle is my Elsa 🤣.

I get it! Just a thought, do you have another adult with you that could hop over to Steakhouse 71 while you and the princess do BOG? The burgers are fantastic there! Edit oops that's lunch only. Lots of good places to go though if you can split up.

I thought steakhouse 71 only had burgers on the lunch menu?
Hmmm must have gotten confused when my friends said they went, sorry. I don't actually eat red meat to pay attention to the meat on menus. Just looked at the menu for dinner and still decent and a cheeseburger is on the kids menu. Lots of other places to go if you can split up.

I don't either, but I'm the weird vegetarian in a family of carnivores. That used to be my other favorite thing about BOG, they had vegetarian French onion soup lol.

I am a poultry person myself, so not quite where you are, but I'm the only one who eats just poultry or mostly vegetarian. My spouse is a total carnivore lol. Just so many friends have raved about the burgers there. They are on the kids menu for dinner so who knows what you could get. I personally also love GFC, Skipper Canteen, or Kona myself. If they love meat, send them to Ohana maybe? Sadly BOG is such a bust for me. Fortunately my kid didn't like the dining areas anyway.

My daughter (now 12) always orders from the kid's menu. She's picky and doesn't eat a lot. I believe they always charge her the adult price. I have heard that Space 220 is strict about ordering from the kid's menu but I'm not really sure why. She might go hungry when we eat there if that's the case.

I guess that they didn't give us a problem at Space 220 since my son's kid meal was nearly the same price as the two items from the lounge menu that my husband and I ordered---the chicken and waffles and the cauliflower appetizers, which added up to $35 compared to his $29 meal. The server actually made out on that since my son would not have ordered at all or ordered an appetizer that was less than $20. No problems whatsoever. I bet prix fixe is a different story and rightfully so and that is why we cancelled our regular Space 220 reservation and got a lounge one instead.

I found the lunch menu is a little bit more forgiving. My son would probably at least enjoy their Burger.

I just went to book BOG as I knew they are currently not serving breakfast and I was disappointed to see the normal lunch menu is currently not available.
I have the Dining credits and the number of places you can use them is amazing, much better choice than the DDP, so I have so many more options, I can't wait.

DD13 usually orders from the adult menu, except for the desserts and drinks. She's not picky, but didn't see much on the Space 220 menu she would want. It may be one we skip if they're policy is like I've read too.

Question for those adults who go to table service restaurants and only order the childs menu. Do you tip at a dollar value consistent with what you would have spent if you’d ordered an adults meal? If not, you are short-changing the service staff whose tip is now lower and as a result, their income is now lower even though they needed to spend the same amount of their time serving you during the time you occupied the seat.
Yes, we do. Ditto for occasions when we order just appetizers and/or desserts instead of a full meal. It's just as much work for the server, and I was always taught that if you can't afford to leave a decent tip for a server making less than minimum wage, you can't afford to dine out. (Also, germane to the subject, we've never had trouble ordering from kids' menus at Disney TS, although typically we're requesting an adult portion of that item, so we're paying an adult price anyway, and of course at anything buffet or family-style or prix fixe, everyone is charged according to age rather than order.)

Times being what they are, we tip more than ever these days. I've even taken to tipping local restaurants for takeout.

Kids through teens I think it's fine to order off kid menus. Adults doing it? Really? Restaurants run on tight margins, it's call a kids menu for a reason.

The alternative is a family deciding not to eat at a restaurant if not everyone would eat from the menu. From what I've seen of kids menus, the offerings are hardly high dollar plates.

$29 for spaghetti just seems obscene to me?
I know different strokes and all but pasta?

My 13-year-old wanted the spaghetti at dinner and we were fine with it--at least he ate. His meal came with a drink and dessert. He also got the trading cards. My son is autistic and he really wanted them since he is into anything space-related. He has YouTube channel in which he talks about dark matter and other related science/space topics as well as gaming, so this restaurant was a must-do for us. I was just glad that I was able to order of the lounge menu as the cauliflower app is great.
