12 Trips to WDW and NEVER on Tom Sawyer's Island!

We have been to WDW and more specifically MK tons of times. For some reason we have never set foot on Tom Sawyer's Island. We always talk about going on the Island but we end up doing the same stuff that keeps us coming back.

Are there others like me?

Am I really missing out?
I know that I have not been on my last 2 trips.
I was young on my 1st trip, so I don't know if I went to Tom Sawyer's Island or not.
If I did, I don't remember it.
We are planning to go on our trip this Sept.
I hope we get to this time!

After about 10 visits to Disneyland and/or WDW, I have never been on the island(s).

I'd always assumed that there was nothing at all to do there but trudge on a path and then leave. Reading this thread was the first I'd known that there were caves or AA chickens or a snack shop or even pirate stuff. Perhaps next time I'll try it.

I've never gone to TSI at Disney World or Disneyland. Not my thing but I might check out in August at Disneyland since they have rethemed it.

I got ya beat, almost....I HAVE been on the Island in 1981, then once more in 83. Lost track of the vacations since then (many!) and I also moved here last year to be able to visit the park as often as I want. I will NEVER go back there...unless there is a Pirate overlay or some other total redo that gets my interest. I'll don't see me headin over to Rafiki's Planet deal at Animal Kingdom anymore either. Something about waiting in a line to leave an area just drives me nuts.

Visiting TSI, deciding you don't like it and not going back, I get.

Never visiting TSI at least once, I don't get.

Exactly what I was thinking. When I go to Disney World, my goal is to see everything and do everything...unless I've done it before and didn't care for it the first time (LMA). But I always TRY everything first. I'll admit though, there is one attraction I haven't been on at Disney World - Dumbo. I have been on it quite a few times at Disneyland, though, and I don't think it's worth a 50 minute wait when I could go on Aladdin, Rocket Jets, or Triceratop Spin and wait a quarter as long.
I think attractions like Tom Sawyer's Island, Swiss Family Treehouse, and Sonny Eclipse are wonderful small touches to the Magic Kingdom. Not everything is and should be a screaming E Ticket. Some attractions exist to slow things down a bit and make you savor your day a little more. Yes, it takes a few minutes to get to Tom Sawyer's Island, and yes it takes a few minutes to get back (the line to get back at Disneyland's TSI today was about 15 minutes!), and no there aren't any roller coasters or simulators, and yes you'll have to do some hiking but I still think it's well worth checking out. How can you really know you won't like it unless you give it a chance?

Never there after 35 trips

I guess The island never held an interest for me. What all is there? This trip going with disney husband (His first trip) and Twin sons age 11 months. I know my Husband has interest in Tom Sawyer What is there is it worth taking time off something else. Will anything hold the boys interest there. We leave This coming Sunday

Okay...never been....not hearing enough to get me to go on the Island. I have been to WDW too many times now to count, and I don't get this attraction either. I can't rip it, just not interested.
Since so many of us have not been or not even interested, and we are mostly "Disney Nuts" here, makes one wonder does this attraction need to be here, or can/should it be eliminated? :lookaroun

I never had been there until I had kids. My DD and DS love it over there because they can run around, there is a fort to play in, the caves to go through- even a play area where they can climb and I can sit to rest. Now, I don't know that I would ever make the effort over there if I didn't have kids because I don't do well in the caves (very small) but it is fun to see my kids enjoying themselves and using their imaginations on the Island.

I've been there 12 times also but i have only been on TSI one time and it was when i was about 7 years old. For some reason i just don't really enjoy goin over there. It seems really boring, likes it can be a nice place to sit and relax but i just don't enjoy it.

This is interesting that you brought this up because I was actually thinking about this the other day. I haven't been to wdw nearly as many times as you have but I have been to TS Island once. My fiance and I heard about hidden paintbrushes on the Island so we figured we'd try our luck in finding em. It's funny to see that this many people are uninterested in TS island. Any suggestions on what they could do to make it enticing for wdw guests to explore it?

I don't think you're missing much, unless you really like caves. I think the caves are much too narrow - I go into panic attack mode a little bit when people take too long to walk through them.

There's supposed to be a cool hidden mickey you can see from the island that's part of the big thunder mountain, so I went to the island last time I was there but for the life of me couldn't find the hidden mickey.

I think little boys would love it there because of the climbing, and forts and fake guns...but I don't have any kids yet so I avoid it =)

I try to see everything at WDW at least once. So I've been to Tom Sawyer's Island. But once was enough.
