$114 for Disney Studios

Hey, if people are foolish enough to spend $114 on a 1-day ticket, that's on them. Some businesses thrive on the fact that some people will make very poor choices with their money.
Word up, I totally agree. I’m just saying while Disney does a lot of things wrong, its pricing on 1 day tickets is not one of them.

I'm not going to argue with the fact that Disney is costly, it is. $1000-$900 for a day though??o_O

Am I forgetting anything?
$453 tickets (4 adult tickets)
$20 parking
$150 food (2 quick service and some snacks)

$623- still a hefty chunk of change but throwing out $1000 seems a little dramatic.
Clearly you're leaving out the nearly $400 in souvenirs.

People's idea of "foolish" is irrelevant. Everyone spends money on things others find foolish. I think paying to go sit in the hot sun in a stadium to watch guys throw a ball is foolish. I think paying large sums of money on fancy computer parts or game add ons is foolish. So completely based on personal taste. (not that I would spend 114 for Hollywood Studios but I think very few people would)

Just wrote about this topic in my thread. To put it shortly, I don't think Disney should be offering a one-day ticket for this park, AT ALL. :p I was done with the whole park by 4pm, and this is including watching most shows in the park - the only ones I managed to "miss out" on are Voyage and Disney Live on Stage (which is probably awkward for a man my age to watch anyway haha)

We are visiting in a couple of weeks and throughout or whole 22 day vacation, we are going to Studios three times and have worked out we can do all that it has to offer that interests us in 3-4 hours maximum. I really wouldn't be happy paying a full day rate for this park, so I am glad we always do the park hoppers. It is a sorry state that it is in considering this was always my favourite park growing up. However, the end will most certainly justify the means (in my opinion). The park is transforming and will no doubt be all the better for it in the next few years.

Problem is money if you have a family. One day at MK comes in at about $1,000 for a family of four and when you add it all up. $900 at least.
That's what I tell people when they ask me how much it cost. I say figure about $900.00 to $1,000.00 per person.

I don't see how it could be that much. Let's go with it though...there are people who do that and are fine with it. It's a day of entertainment.

This math is crazy for one day!lol

Hahah! Clearly:greedy::greedy:

One simply must purchase some original artwork whilst at Disney so I tell people to budget atleast $4,000 for a day visit at Disney.
And my wife would say you can't leave the Disney Dooney bags out of the budget. I personally have to budget for a Dole Whip. Our priorities are a bit different, my wife and I.

I'm adding a room. as well. $623 plus room. You can get a cheap room outside of Orlando but even then you are at maybe $750 a day. Might be able to get it down to $700 a day.
You can't say it's per day because the admission price doesn't stay at $114 for each day on a multiday ticket.

Anyway, price out any other theme park or vacation destination and you'll see Disney is a pretty good value. You'd pay a lot more to go to Hawaii with a family of 4 and literally stare at each other on the beach all day.

I sell Insurance at a AAA office in Florida. You would not believe how many 1 day tickets we sell every day. Some people don't know or can afford the day and don't mind.

Some people may be vacationing in the Orlando area, as opposed to vacationing AT WDW. Maybe they are staying off property, renting a car, and are going to go to Legoland, Universal, Sea World, the space coast, and Disney World while they are on vacation. Maybe they are not "going to Disney World" but "going to Orlando". They may have no plans to come back in the future, so they are hitting up all of the attractions. My parents did exactly this in the 1980's. They took us to Orlando. Clearly Legoland was not there, and WDW was only MK and EPCOT at the time, but we did a day in MK, a day in EPCOT, and then a bunch of other things.

Of course this is exactly the behavior that Disney is trying to squash. Expensive one day tickets is one method they use to do so.

I bought a 1-day pass once during a short business trip, before I was an AP. But back then I think it was something like $40.

(yes, it ended up on my expense report)

I was thinking more along the lines of how Kanye West sold a plain white t-shirt for $100. I think we can all agree that anyone who bought that was foolish.

Ok. I wasn't because I was assuming this was a situation where you were near Disney on vacation or something and decided to do a disney day. Therefore the hotel was being paid for either way and not a part of Disney expenses.

I'm not sure about the lake's status.

As for Disney Studios at large out of the 12 parks around the globe and their respective evolutions I can only think of 2 times when a Disney park operated in a more woeful state: The pre 1994 MGM and Paris Disney Studios in the early 2000's

the Studios very sad current state, in my opinion, is light years worse than any California Adventure incarnation, an opening day lineup at Hong Kong or even a 1998 Animal Kingdom start.

If I had to pay single day rack rate there, then I would say $22 to $25 seems appropriate.

My DS said to my DD and I when DD was trying to make FP+ for the Studios for our upcoming Hurricane Irma vacation, there are 4 rides open at the Studios and you guys will only ride TWO of the FOUR. It was a sobering comment about the Studios 2017. We attended the Grand Opening of the Studios when my DS was an infant, there was more to do then in a so called half day park.

Not exactly. There was GMR, there was the Backstage and Animation Tour, and Superstar Television, if memory serves, and that's about it. Indy opened later that summer, Star Tours in December, Muppet Vision and BatB in 91, Little Mermaid in 92, and ToT didn't open until '94.
