Ohh Horizons, how you are turely missed.

I wonder what security would do if I got this printed on the back of a shirt and went to Epcot?

HORIZONS *was* Future World to me! The Spaceship Earth, World of Motion, Horizons omnimover / animatronic triple threat was my favorite things about Epcot (Center).

Today, you're more likely to find me heading off to the World Showcase.

One of the great things about the ride is that there was a story thread which went through the whole ride, which you could miss if you weren't paying attention. The first time I rode it, all I saw were cool show scenes about the future. Only on my second ridethrough did I realize that we were watching a family and their children in different enviroinments.

The vid phones were especially cool. We see an animatronic character talking to a real live person via video phone, and then in the next scene we'd see an animatronic of the person on the other end, now talking to a real version of the first character.

Considering the focus on the environment nowadays, if the attraction were to be recreated, there would probably have to be a great focus on keeping the earth clean. We'd be more likely to see more trees and plant life prominently next to these cool buildings.

I honestly never thought I would still miss this attraction 10 years later as much as I do now. Maybe I'm just old school, but what a quality attraction! Just seeing the display at the 25th gallery gave me goosebumps along with other guests I saw strolling by. It's things like that and this thread that show just what kind of effect Horizons had on people.

RIP Horizons, the original "Yes we can, yes we can!"

I still can smell the orange blossoms, even here, right now in bitterly cold RI, with all the old dirty gray snow outside. Orange blossoms....

LOL...I feel out of place here. I must be the only person on the face of the earth that fell asleep every time I went on Horizons.

Well, I'm sorry for you guys...but not so much for me.:p ;)

That demolition picture is so sad................. On my very first trip to EPCOT, that is what I saw. I wish I could have experienced this attraction.
