I'm looking at a holiday with my boyfriend for next October. We've been pricing it for 10 days but I'm wondering if it's worth doing th extra and having a full two weeks there? What do you guys think? And what would you say are definite must dos? We're flying from England so it's a fair way and we aren't likely to get back for a few years

It seems to me if the airfare is about the same, it would just make sense to stay longer. We tacked on a couple of days to a week long trip to the Rocky Mountains a few years ago and it actually made the airfare go down as we were not flying on peak days. Now sure, we had the added expenses of more hotel nights and meals, but was easily worth it.

welcome to the forums. my wife & I usually do a 10 day trip. that's plenty for us. gives us time for what we want to do.
I'd do whatever u think would be better for u, budget wise. planing a WDW trip can be expensive. if you're getting the dining plan, that'll add on to your total as well.
as far as what to do, can't go wrong with most attractions at MK. defineatly catch the night time shows & fireworks. always fun.
Hope some of this helps, hope u have a nice trip.

We always go for a fortnight (also from England) and go once every couple of years, we never get bored and we take the time to visit other theme parks in orlando as well as really taking our time to enjoy disney world

I'm also from the UK so I feel I can answer your questions for you - having done 6 x 14 day trips and 1 x 10 day trip.

1) Costs - Airfare is (or should be) identical for either a 10 or 14 day trip. The variables will be accommodation, food and car rental (if you don't take Disneys ME from the airport).
2) Tickets - Disneys 14 day ticket includes entry to all 4 theme parks and both water parks. You also get the opportunity to "Hop" between parks on the same day - all included.
3) There is really so much to see and do, a 14 day visit isn't long enough to do Disney, let alone the possibility of visiting Universal and SeaWorld. Factor into that burn out - you must take a couple of Rest Days during your trip to re-charge those batteries. We usually do 2 or 3 park days followed by a Rest Day. A Rest Day is either a water park visit or a good few hours at the Resort pool followed by an evening visit to Disney Springs or entry into one of the parks for the fireworks.
4) Must dos - for first time visitors EVERYTHING is a "Must Do" but on a 10 day visit you'd have to be really selective with what you do or see, on a 14 day visit you have more opportunity to sample Disney World and beyond.

Weve gone 10 and weve gone 14 days...... 14 is the best. When weve gone 10, it just never seemed long enough. The 14 day trip always felt like it gave us enough time to do all we really wanted to do. ( Although on that last day you can always come up with more you could do !! ) Those extra days really make a difference. In the end, youll be glad you added them on especially since you dont think youll be back for several years. Do as much as you can.... if you can afford to do it.

I would do the 14 days, but factor in a day to drive to Clearwater Beach and spend the day there(It's about 1.5 hours drive depending on traffic). As well as some "no park" days to sleep in and actually relax. Go visit the Boardwalk, Disney Springs, mini golf. You definitely shouldn't be in a rush with that many days. If funds allow it, go to Universal as well.

I'm gonna try and price up both as there's an offer on at the moment it's a free dining plan or an upgrade offer. I'm not sure we're gonna get much further than Disney as the car insurance is rediculous!!! And only I drive.... Having the extra days might man we could take our time a bit more and not rush around to fit everything in. I went about three times when I was younger but that's almost 15 years ago so I'm basically a first timer again and he's never been to the Florida one but we have done Disneyland Paris a couple of times so he's aware of what the Disney bubble is etc

If you're going from over here 14 days. But don't limit yourself to WDW.
This is key.... We've done a 10 day WDW trip once and everyone was pretty much burned out on Disney before we finished the stay. If you do a 2 week trip to Orlando then do yourself a favor and don't spend it all at WDW, you'll save yourself some money and end up with a better trip if you limit the mouse to no more than a week.

It's more of a financial thing that we are planning to stay at Disney (believe me id love to go to universal to the Harry Potter part!!) and with so much to do at Disney on days off the parks I reckon we'll be OK it's wether we do the extra days (priced it to about £400 each extra on top of the 10 day price. Inc dining plan btw) and have the extra time to get to the parks or just chill or both

14!!! Definitely switch it up between Disney parks and other stuff though. FL is too beautiful not to enjoy I personally think. If you're really only bothered about Disney then I guess 10 is more than enough.

Like I say the only thing holding us back is the car hire and obvious costs of everything on top of Disney plus he doesn't drive so I'd be driving everywhere we went

I wouldn't mind hitting Harry Potter at universal though

Last summer we were there for 15 days. We loved every minute of it. We spent every day in the parks - we aren't morning park/rest&pool/night park people either. We NEVER got tired of any park or attraction. We enjoyed soaking up every particle of pixie dust we could to last us a year at home with reality.

I know there are many discussions here about how to get around if you wish to see other places. We just used the public transportation buses - the Lynx in 2012. It cost us $12.00 round trip for a family of 4 to go from the Ticket and Transportation Center to Sea World and back (we got off at Downtown Disney). It's cheap, convenient and easy. The bus stops are right next to the park entrances. You could try that if you wish to leave the magic. Their schedule is online if you want to check it out.

You're talking to hardcore Disney fans here. I think it's safe to say the vast majority will say to do 14 days, as do I.

Now, 14 days is too much for just Disney in my opinion. If you do six theme park days, a water park day, a Disney Springs day, a resort hopping day, and a rest day that's only 10 days and you'll have seen pretty much everything.

Harry Potter really is one of the best theme park experiences on the planet. I say do what you need to do to make it happen. There are ways to save money on a WDW trip. Ordering some groceries and eating breakfast in your room, that could save you $10 per person per day right there.

Yeah I've always done 14 days as a kid but Paris you can get it all done in 5!! If we can make it to universal that'd be ace but if it's not feasible I don't want to overdose him on Disney haha. I'll never tire of it, I'd live there if it weren't so awkward I get a visa for the US. This is why I was originally liking 10 days.

Can you really do all the parks in 6 days? Properly? We're thinking sept/ oct 2017 because of the MNSSHP as well and the food and wine festival
