I'm looking at a holiday with my boyfriend for next October. We've been pricing it for 10 days but I'm wondering if it's worth doing th extra and having a full two weeks there? What do you guys think? And what would you say are definite must dos? We're flying from England so it's a fair way and we aren't likely to get back for a few years

Can you really do all the parks in 6 days? Properly? We're thinking sept/ oct 2017 because of the MNSSHP as well and the food and wine festival

It depends on your definition of "properly" I suppose. I'm basing that number, at least in part, on the fact that I have no desire to see every single live show. It would also mean full days in the parks in some cases.

Disney Studios has five rides. There's no reason you can't see just about everything in that park in one day.

Animal Kingdom is similar. Shows will take up more of your time than rides. Doable in a day. I will add that it's a park that has lots of little things one should leisurely explore.

Magic Kingdom has lots to do, but two days should be sufficient to ride everything.

Epcot can be covered in two days as well. If you're going during Food & Wine you may want more visits. If you're on the dining plan, use your snack credits for that, and replace at least one full meal by snacking around the world.

I also can't imagine devoting a full day to *just* a water park or Disney Springs. Those could be combined into one day. Doing some resort hopping may not be of interest to you either, or not for a full day at least. No reason your water park day, for example, can't include an evening at Epcot.

Like I say the only thing holding us back is the car hire and obvious costs of everything on top of Disney plus he doesn't drive so I'd be driving everywhere we went

I wouldn't mind hitting Harry Potter at universal though

You can check into packages from Universal that will include transport from WDW and tickets. Cabs or UBER service are actually quite reasonably priced to get there. Universal for 1 day is quite expensive though if you get the park-to-park which you would need to see both parts of the Harry Potter world.

We are definately looking at sept/ oct coz we don't need to go in school holidays as we don't have kids. I would like to see some of the stage shows for eg the lion king show at AK and the beauty and the Beast show in HS (please tell me both are still there?!?!) I'm not a bothered about frozen as I sort of feel it's getting over done (and I have vivid memories of the maelstrom ride from when I was younger so that's still a sore spot for me)

I think we just wanna go and get the most of Disney (maybe go to universal) but I don't wanna get back and feel I need another holiday coz I'm worn out from this one lol. The bad also has dodgy knees from playing football and his life as a bar manager so shorter days and rest days might be needed

We always go for 14 days. With that much time we don't feel the need to hurry through it, but to go at a relaxed pace. There's plenty of time to do it all plus some.

For the price and time you'll be investing in your flights, I'd say, stay longer. The only exception would be if you don't think you want to be away from home that long. (For example, I've discovered that no matter how far I travel, by day 8 or 9, I'm seriously homesick, so even if I'm going to Europe, I don't stay much longer than that).

Yeah that's what I'm thinking. He's agreed to the extra days and I think we're booking it for the last week of sept and the first week of October so we can do the Halloween party and the food and wine festival! Gonna be booking next pay day :D

NO !!!!

You could "do" AK and DHS in a day each and then spend another two days at MK and then EPCOT the next two = 6 days. But you're going to miss out on loads. For a first timer you need to take things slowly, experience the parks, not just visit them. Then there's time needed for going back to re visit some of your favourites things.

You haven't said (or I've missed it) are you staying at a Disney Resort ? If yes, then you can save a chunk of money my ditching the hire car and all its add on insurance policies. Use Disney ME from Orlando Int (make sure your flight doesn't go to Sanford) and use their bus and monorail transportation to get around the parks and resorts. If you have time for Universal then get a taxi.

Yeah we are looking at the French quarter. There's a pretty damn good deal on over in the uk for the dining plan and the memory maker (which having had the photo pass as Paris we've decided is a no brainier!) which is why we're thinking of skipping universal all together as we're on Disney property so won't need to hire a car and we'd only be doing it for like two days which is rediculous when it's gonna cost more than my years insurance over here (think it's my age)

I've planned a 14 day trip - so minus off two for travel as we'd only get w half day st the most really by the time were there. Thinking maybe 2 days per park, so that's 8, a third maybe in Epcot (food and wine festival) and then bounce to MK and do the stuff we wanna do again. Which leaves 3 days to play with for water parks, trying the crazy golf and going to Disney springs etc and going back into the parks again for anything we wanna do again. Our tickets are park hoppers automatically so jumping between parks isn't a problem for us

Haha Oki doki I promise!! Like I say it's come to about £400/500 extra each for nr extra days and that's with the dining plan upgrade as well! And flights (admittedly they are this October I'm just getting a rough idea of cost) are the same at around £450 each with hold luggage of 23kg and a carry on for the goodies we buy

This will make for a relaxing trip. The Studios park really does not require two full days, but two half days there followed by naps and/or Disney Springs and/or mini golf and/or time at the pool sound good.

I'm a sucker for all the shows so thinking we could do a morning by the pool and head in a second day to get some of the rides etc in again and fantastic? Oh and beauty and the beast on stage (which if you tell me it's not there anymore I'm going to cry)

I don't really remember much about AK if m honest as we only went once when that had been opened.... All three furnishings etc do we know when they will be open?

I would do the 14 days, but factor in a day to drive to Clearwater Beach and spend the day there(It's about 1.5 hours drive depending on traffic). As well as some "no park" days to sleep in and actually relax. Go visit the Boardwalk, Disney Springs, mini golf. You definitely shouldn't be in a rush with that many days. If funds allow it, go to Universal as well.
How easy is to to get to the beach if you don't have a car? My hubby would love a day at the beach and weret sure how easy it would be to get there and back?

Not sure who you going with but when we went in 2013 we booked with Thomson and then once we was there used there to book tickets to Harry and sea world, they provided the transport via a bus and you had a number to ring once you had enough and they came and collected you within the hour!

Oh that sounds good! We're actually booking it direct through the website as we can out a £100 deposit down and pay it off so much a month and split the payments between us. We've tried travel agents and they've said they'd not be able to beat the deal and price.... Happened both times we've ben to Paris and I can honestly say th customer service doing it this way was brilliant and I git so many emails on the lead up to build the excitement and helpful guides etc that I'm quite happy doing it that way for Florida

Sounds good to me! You have to shop around and play travel agents off to get best price! Like you say it does cost so much to do!

Yeah exactly! I think I've got it to £1800 ish each for 14 nights staying at the French quarter with the upgraded dining plan, tickets and flights.... Oh and insurance haha

Like I say Disney have my trust to book with them so I think next pay day we're going to which gives us a year and a half ish to pay it off and save apending money which if we're not paying for meals won't need to take a giant amount (unless of course I hit the Pandora shop as the Disney charms aren't available here in the UK)

To get to either coast is an hour and a half from WDW. It would be a pretty pricey taxi ride.
