1. Space Mountain
2. Rock'n Roll Rollercoaster
3. Mission: Space (orange)

I am not a big fan of roller coasters or sims, but I have road BTMRR and EE and enjoyed them both. I get motion sickness sometimes. Rode Star Tours and AO last year and won't do those again. They were OK but I felt a little weird. I really want to ride these but don't know if I can. Please help me.

See you in 10 more days WDW! :sohappy:

No.

No offense, but no.

You don't want to ride, don't ride. IMHO, you don't know what you're missing, but if you get motion sickness, I'm not gonna risk getting strangers covered in your sick because I waxed eloquent over some e-tickets. It's like losing your virginity, you'll know when you're ready...

Of course, the first time I rode Space Mountain, it was because my uncle made me.

So, never mind :lookaroun

Well...I dunno how convincing I can be other than saying you won't know if you don't try.

My basic pitch would be even if you don't like it, it's over in a couple minutes and you go on with your day. But if you think you might get sick, that may not be true.

I'd still say just go for it, but that's my typical approach to these kinds of things. If you hate it, go have a Mickey Bar and get in line for something you know you like.

I would stay off if you have gotten motion sickness. I love to ride coasters and would not force someone if they ever have gotten sick from coasters or being in a car.

If you have been on EE and Rocky Mountain, I think you would be fine on Space Mountain - it's pretty tame, just in the dark. It reminds me of the Whizzer we have at our local Six Flags (minus the darkness!)

But, I'd avoid RnR and Mission Space. I personally love RnR but even I won't go on the tame version of Mission Space because I just know it would make me claustrophobic.

In the end - YOU need to make the decision, though -- if you're not feeling it, don't push yourself. There are still so many great rides at WDW!

I got motion sickness really bad and so I've never done mission space. I used to love Star Tours when I was younger, but I just can't do it now that I'm older. Though I'm only 24. To me, Space Mountain is easy, no loops or corkscrews. For me, RnRC is awful, not for motion sickness but just the over all ride. It was soo rickety and bumpy that my head was killing me when I got off, and I've been on many many loopy roller coasters. I'd say if you were going to brave one of them, I'd do space mountain. Just pop a Dramamine, always helps me out.

I'd have to say if you rode EE, you can definitely ride Space Mountain.
As for the other two I won't say one way or the other for you. When I rode M:S, they only had the one version and it did not make me feel well at all. On my last visit I didn't even give the easier version a try. I think RnRC is awesome. DH is a bit scared of roller coasters and he found that he liked RnRC more than most b/c he didn't have to see the track in front of him and be scared of what's to come. He was just in for the ride!

If you are not a coaster fan I would avoid them. Don't make yourself ill because you tried a coaster. If you want to try one to see how it goes I would recommend Space Mountain. It is the more tame than the others.

You will be fine on Space Mountain. I get sick easy so I haven't ridden RnRC, ToT, Star Tours or Mission Space but I didn't have any problems with Space Mountain. I'm on the fence over Soarin' but I'm thinking I won't ride. I am planning on trying Mission Space the whimpy side (can't remember what it is called). Like I said in another post I got sick :hurl: on my honeymoon after riding Body Wars and spent half the day in First Aid so it is not worth it to me to take a chance. See you there!!! I'm so excited I can barely stand it!!

Space Mountain is pretty tame. I think you can handle it.

RnRC: I've never ridden it because I don't do anything that goes upside down. FREAKS me OUT!

M:S: I've only done the tame version and I handled it just fine. I ride it several times on each trip. I get motion sick on the tea cups so the orange side of M:S would really do a number on me. I would skip the orange side if I were you. Go GREEN. It really is fun and won't make you sick. I get clostrophobic, but for some reason, M:S didn't bother me. The cool air they have blowing right in your face really helps. I feel a little dizzy after StarTours but it passes quickly. Body Wars was SO much worse than ST. I felt ill for several hours after BW.

Space Mountain is pretty tame. Much more tame than Thunder Mountain or Everest. Go ahead with that one.

Mission: Space can be possible. I get EXTREMELY ill from any type of spinning rides. If I rode the teacups I'd be sick for at least 8 hours afterwards. Mission: Space is different though, because if you stare directly at the screen ahead of you and convince yourself that you're shooting through space and not spinning you can actually fool your equilibrium (or whatever) and overcome the motion sickness. I love Mission: Space, but if I look away from that screen or even start to think about the fact that I'm spinning, I'm done for!

I am also very prone to dizziness, headaches, and even fainting on rides that go upside down, but I'm a coaster fanatic and Rock N Rollercoaster is one of my favorites. It's actually one of the only upside down coasters I can ride without blacking out. It's very smooth, especially if you sit towards the front. The back is a little too jerky for me.

Good luck. I'm leaving in 10 days as well!

Hi There!
Of course it is totally your choice, but from someone who gets mtion sick on Star Tours (I still go on it for my fiance) I love Space Mountain and RRC. Mission Mars I did once before they created the tame side and was not good for a few hours after it was over.
Space Mountain is very tame. The element of darkness and your imagination are what takes over for this ride. The drops are little. I would say try it just because it is a Disney classic.
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster is great! Even my 62 year old dad loves it! There is a loop in this one, but it is minor and over before you know it. It is a one of a kid experience.
Make a good decision for yourself. If you decide you try all three or maybe just one, you might be at least happy in the end, whether you liked it or not, that you just overcame a fear and tried something new.

I'm scared of coasters myself. I went on BTMR with my husband and that was okay. We are going in Nov. and I'm debating on whether I want to try Space Mountain and EE. Not really into the big "drops" Do any of these coasters have big drops in them?:veryconfu

I'd just stay off of Mission Space if I were you, or wait until the very end of the day to try it so if you end up feeling ill its not as big a deal. The other two attractions shouldn't cause you any problem at all though.

I have riden SM (it is not as bad as EE).
I have not riden RnRC, but my husband has (he said it's worse than SM or EE).
My husband also rode MS, but he was unaware of the 2 different levels. He got on the lighter ride & he did not enjoy it...he said that he will try the orange MS on our next trip.

Mission:SPACE is one of my fav rides. The first year it opened I went there and very nearly didn't go on it as i'm not a fan of enclosed spaces. But it really is out of this world. I would suggest you try green first. ON the Orange as long as you don't close your eyes and keep looking forward you will be fine.

All i can say about Rock'n'Roller coaster is keep your head back. Went on it last june and ended up with whiplash! Doh!

Have a great time! Only 108 days for me! :sohappy:

Thanks for all the feedback everyone.

1. SM, I believe I will ride it.
2. RnR still thinking about. I have a co-worker that it very ill with cancer. She says she won't ever get to ride it again and wants me to promise her I will ride it for her. I almost rode it last year. I had a FP for it and it came a down pour and we left the park before we got to ride. When I think about what she is facing, me being scared about riding a roller coaster puts things in perspective.

How long does it last and is it totally dark like SM?

3. M:S, I will try green first. That is what I meant to post in the first place. I associate the color green with :hurl: . My bad. I don't mind tight spaces.

Thanks again.
