Disney has announced It's Tough to be a Bug! will close on March 17, 2025 to be reimagined into Zootopia: Better Zoogether!.

Here's the announcement:

It's Tough to be a Bug! will close permanently on March 17, 2025, to make way for Zootopia: Better Zoogether! coming to Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park in winter 2025.
Correction. It's Tough to Be a Bug will be exterminated on March 17.

I kinda keep forgetting about this cause it’s of very little interest to me. Tough to be a bug is up there with muppets as one of the best 4-D shows from classic 80-90’s era. Seriously. to be a bug, muppets, EO, those were the days! And Terminator at universal as well. So good.

But bugs life has kinda been forgotten about and zootopia has been popular on Disney+ and there is a new movie coming out so it’s hard to fault them for it.

Fun fact - to be a bug was not written by Pixar - it was written by Imagineer Kevin Rafferty!

Another interesting fact tough to be a bug was going to be a lion king show at 1 point

No sadly not I got it off all ears.net
You’d love it! It’s on Amazon - I’d tell you to look for it at the writers stop at Hollywood studios but naturally it doesn’t exist anymore.

Kevin was the lead for Cars Land, midway mania, Winnie the Pooh, philharmagic, runaway railway, and yes…. Tiki room new management haha.

Kinda’ surprised they didn’t make 3 sequels to A Bug’s Life, and are not now working on a live action version…!!! ;)

With an ~9 month turn over time between shows, I assume changes to the theater itself (like the rockwork/queue) will likely be minimal? (Which is fine with me... I really like the look of the queue and theater)

Found the live action version of A Bug’s Life…shortest movie ever made…

I don't plan to watch the new show, but I just want to preemptively say that if one of the characters says "zoogether", "zoonited", or any other puns and another character rolls their eyes, says something like "you been planning that one?" or any other "ugh puns" gesture, it is not funny or clever.

The character making the pun commenting on it is also none of those positive traits.

Same for if any character refuses to sing or otherwise makes an "ugh singing" comment.

Confession? I'm more concerned about losing the incredible queue and theater details in ITTBAB than about the show itself closing. Im hoping they leave as much of it alone as possible

I like new stuff, ITTBAB was just ok but I appreciate the artistry. The queue was the best part imo. It's gorgeous. I'd be sad if the queue got changed.

Interested to see how it all fits in.

I really don't see why they'd bother changing it, posters, signage, and animatronics aside. The scale of everything was always consistent with the exterior of the Tree of Life anyway.
