“Something major” coming to DHS???

EDIT: It was just a reference to a miniseries called North and South from 1984! Nothing to see here!

From the Lion King at AK thread:

Looks like yet another Blue Sky idea is to expand Galaxy's Edge with a Mandalorian/Ahsoka attraction (since these shows take place post-ROTJ, which came out in 1983, "1984 miniseries" seems to indicate one or both of these shows).
1984 miniseries? Post-ROTJ?

Caravan of Courage: An Ewoks Adventure incoming.

Just to reiterate again, there are no rumors about any additional Star Wars content for DHS. The "North and South" is about a completely unrelated television mini-series that was just a joke and not meant to be any inside information.
I think now you've taken this too far in the other direction if I read the exchange correctly.

1. Undefined enough for a formal announcement, but the new art will tell us more.
2. This year? That's new to me. I expect entertainment enhancements coming for next year and, should it move forward, an expansion at the NW corner in the coming years.

North and south. Good TV show.

SWGE? Mandalorian?

Miniseries. 1984.

Heard some rumblings but dismissed them, happy to have been wrong!

Early days yet 👋

I believe that one poster was focused more on the (1984) TV show part than the cardinal directions and that's what was cleaned up. Then again, I'm out of practice interpreting Martin's clues since he ditched us for the DLP forum.

1984 is obviously a reference to the George Orwell novel, which is the origin of the "Big Brother" terminology. CBS, owners of the Twilight Zone, have a show called "Big Brother". I think this outright confirms that we are getting a Big Brother experience (premium upcharge) in DHS that traps guests for 90 days (they can only leave early if they pay extra).

Yeah, I think Martin was hinting that they were looking at expansions in both the northern part of the park and the southern part.

I just took it as @marni1971 making a joke about cardinal directions and it having nothing to do with park plans. Hopefully he can come on here to reply and clarify.

That said, if something "south" is being considered for DHS, it would much more likely be for Echo Lake as opposed to SWGE.

North - MK

Middle/east - Epcot/DHS

South - AK

Or 1984 means a RNRC retheme confirmed

Rock 'n' Roller Coaster - Taylor's Version

That will finance Disney's $60B plans for investment alone

Who is going to finance it? I know Taylor Swift is popular and successful, but I cannot see her paying TDO the cost to sponsor the attraction....and having a Taylor Swift re-skin of Rock N Rollercoaster will never generate enough new business to finance much... It would be a well attended ride no doubt to specific fans of hers, but I don't think people will travel to WDW specifically for a 2 minute coaster ride with her music....
I'm not a Swiftie, but I don't agree that people wouldn't travel specifically to ride the first and only ride dedicated to Taylor Swift. Just look at how much people were willing to shell out for the Eras concert and then the subsequent movie. I think Disney's biggest hurdle would be in getting Taylor to agree to the project, but if she did, Disney would rake in the $$.

Considering she writes songs explicitly about her roller-coaster-of-a-ride former relationships, I’d say it works.

We have family friends who are splurging on a trip to Amsterdam to see her on tour, since they had such FOMO when she was in town.

One of the husbands, who I am good friends with, laments he didn’t just say okay to the $1,200 price tag back last summer - would’ve been a lot cheaper!

Exactly. Me and several friends are seeing her in Vienna for thousands of dollars. Half of us couldn’t get tickets in the US (the early admission pit tickets in Vienna were cheaper than the back-of-the-stadium resale tickets here) and half of us have seen Eras multiple times.

We’re nothing in the grand scheme, but all the evidence demonstrates that Taylor is an unbelievable star and has reached the zenith of pop culture. She’s not going to turn that (imo meh) roller coaster into a Harry-potter caliber destination, but a LOT of people would travel for that ride and a lot more would make sure they stopped by Orlando and/or Hollywood Studios when they may have otherwise skipped.

Does that make it worth it, I dunno. But it’s not a bad idea.

As always, I am rooting for Lady Gaga - if they picked another musician (which I feel they wouldn’t tbh).

Bringing back the Muppets a few pages back, I feel that attraction is in desperate need of a refresh or an out rite rip and replace. My last time to experience it, I focused more on the audience than the show. People were unenthusiastic. Not much laughing or anything. Just sitting there watching the show.

Admittedly I've never been a Muppets fan, but I at least somewhat enjoyed the show in earlier years. Now, I just use it as a cool place to sit for a bit. Of course I would rather have added attractions at HS right now but when it comes time for a redo, Muppets would be pretty high on my list.

I also just get the feeling it's a dying IP.

This is the possible park addition I am most intrigued. It was totally not on my wish list. I thought maybe a new night time show, crossing my fingers that streetmosphere would return to the front of the park and maybe to SW:GE, but that was it.

I now am wondering - thinking conservatively like Iger does - of this expansion occurs, will that halt a larger expansion in the BBTM location. Bob and Co. are certainly spending, but to me, truly turbo charging the parks in Florida would be DAK, MK AND DHS, with Epcot happening closer to its 50th anniversary. Who knows, maybe the Cars rumor was heard, but for the wrong park. If a Carsland expansion were to happen in DHS, it should be the entire land and not just the big E-ticket. I just want see an expansion here. The Launch Bay Area is abysmal.
