The show definitely needs something. I saw it a couple weeks ago for the first time live and was very much looking forward to it but walked out of it very disappointed. The boats going out without the live actors definitely felt strange and a couple of the flowers were not working properly (which happens). The huge pyro thing at the end I told my kids to keep an eye on it and nothing happened. The show suddenly just ended and everyone just kind of sat there then very weak applause. C’mon Disney. On the other hand, we were very impressed with Pandora and FOP!

I have an extremely boring family video I set to Circle of Life and Reflections of Earth music and it drastically improves an otherwise unwatchable shaky cam video of seagulls at Disney World. Now that works perfectly well for me, because 0.00002% of my annual income is not enough to buy a composer to create original music.

Haha. And the "experts" on these forums tell me that my "Average Disney park guest expects and wants to see Disney characters" argument is invalid. Boom.

I guarantee you, attractions like Impressions de France, Reflections of China, (heck, Illuminations!!)... Yeaaaa... They're numbered. The average park guest does not enjoy these attractions and they think they are boring. Sorry, not sorry. Just a fact. And Disney will cater to the average park guest, not the fanatic theme park history/originality buffs on forum sites.

Haha what is a "Creative Portfolio Executive"? When you are one of the top guys in the company can't you stop using goofy resume terms.

But in all seriousness I did like what he said I twitter. At least one person gets it.

Not sure why you seem to take delight in hammering this home. I think we're all aware of what the corporate mandate is.

But none of us can actually speak for the average guest.

And last I checked, we were all free to have our own opinions on this, right?

Who cares if someone is trying to "invalidate" your stance? We spend too much time worrying about people not agreeing with us. And if they don't, they're dismissed (works for all sides)

Maybe we should, I don't know, find a way to respect each other's opinions, which is what they all are ;)

It's funny how some want respect for their opinion and insist their right, yet totally dismiss another point of view (and it's also cute to see how every generation thinks they know what's best)

Not all of this is about you or geared towards you, just in general ... I'm tired of this silly back and forth. It's tone comes off like elementary school "na na nananana i'm gonna tellllll on yooooooouuuuu ..."

And I caution you to stop talking in fact. You DON'T know the result of every guest survey. You aren't entirely wrong in your take on the average guest but stop stating it as if it's a true fact that you are aware of. You aren't.

And it's also convenient how most who preach "characters everywhere!!! yay!!!!" fail to address the valid concerns we actually have with the show. It's a shame some of you can't take time to try and understand where some of us are coming from and instead we're dismissed as haters and being negative. It sadly speaks to our growing culture of "I'm right, you're wrong so I'm not listening and shut up"

And I'm wondering just how on earth you find the time to talk to each and every single guest who goes to the parks so that you have without a shadow of the doubt, "the facts". You must have clones everywhere ;)

Love all these experts we have :)

Maybe folks need to just start admitting they prefer IP love fests. I'd have a lot less of a problem if people were just honest about their feelings instead of trying to present it as fact.

You need a snickers bar. You're not yourself when you're hungry.

There is nothing wrong with a good solid debate. I just find it entertaining seeing people defend non-IP attractions claiming that a majority of guests love them when in fact, most don't. You can also do the same, though, my friend. As you are engaging right now when you didn't have to. So like. Alrighty then.

I engaged for a reason and that one seems to have been lost on you, so I apologize for wasting your time ;)

You can't say that because you actually DON'T know. You *think* you know. There are lots of different decisions on why attractions or shows are replaced. It's not always about guest satisfaction like you may think, but then again, you seem to know all .... and also prove my point by glossing over any points and basically just being dismissive (and again talking in fact, which I've admitted in another thread I could try and do better on as well). Oh well. I tried. Have a nice day :)

I really wish people would just accept what you're saying, here!

We all know that Haunted Mansion, Big Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain, the Safari Tours, Test Track, and Soarin' are some of the most unpopular attractions in all of WDW!

I mean, until they changed the name from "Countdown to Extinction" to "Dinosaur" to trick everyone into thinking it was tied to one of Disney's biggest movies of all time, that ride was always a walk-on!

One thing I've learned, though, Wonders, is you can't change people's minds. Even when presented with obvious observable facts that contradict their statements, they'll find a way to dig in and double-down on their beliefs.

What can you do? (shrugs)

This isn’t about IPs in a show or no IPs in a show. Epcot has one of the best and longest running nighttime shows of any park and it has no IPs. And yes, I know they are about to add IPs. But, Rivers of Light is awful, terrible, and disappointed on every level. Short of throwing it all out and starting again, Disney can only attach music and imagery that will connect with the guest. The current show connects with no one (on a large scale). They won’t be showing Tron, they will show animal IPs, so relax and be happy that at least they know they have dog of a show.

Do you even know what the word "Debate" means? Hint - It's not posting things like this:

I guarantee you, attractions like Impressions de France, Reflections of China, (heck, Illuminations!!)... Yeaaaa... They're numbered. The average park guest does not enjoy these attractions and they think they are boring. Sorry, not sorry. Just a fact.

That's called "an opinion", because unless you are personally surveying every single park guest every single, you have no factual basis and, thus, what you are posting is an opinion.

Again, like I said with another poster - The adults around here like to have thoughtful, meaningful conversations from time to time without the peanut gallery thinking they have the only opinion that matters. Respect - It's earned, not given.

I hate IP integration as much as the next guy, but Rivers of Light is not a good show. You're allowed to like it, but Disney can absolutely do better than this.

Adding Simba doesn't fix the problems the show has ;) so we'll see if they actually do "do better", but to be fair, you've been down on RoL since the start. (the only problem it fixes is those who want to see Disney movie scenes mixed in). Almost everyone has admitted to the shows flaws. I can still like it too even with the flaws. I like the potential it had, as well. IP doesn't fix technical flaws with the show. They need to build to a better conclusion for the show. Will they? It doesn't sound like massive changes but we'll see when it starts.

I have a feeling this has more to do with MK than AK. Why have everyone rush to MK to see the night show projected on the castle when you can stay in your current park and watch the same clip show projected on a giant lagoon at Epcot, water fountains or Chinese Theatre at DHS, or water/sails at AK? Hate to say it, but this is all about keeping people out of MK by offering the same clip show in each park. And most guests will sadly love it...
