Festival is, In my Opinion, a better show, and stays truer to do the Disney spirit... However, Tarzan rocks is a highly energetic show that is great for kids ages 7-13.

Eh... I would not hold your breath as far as AK Maturing... I mean if they keep the park open PAST 5PM once FFF and Everest is open... THEN maybe there will be some hope that this will be more than just a half day park...lol

What is FFF? (Sorry, dumb question :) )

I hear you on keeping the park open past 5 pm. The hours are just atrocious...not that there is enough to do at this point to warrant it staying open later. Hopefully, these new attraction(s) will fix that.

The AC and walls that you speak of are all very temporary.

Well, I suppose anything is temporary since it could be torn down. But the interior walls that are up are the actual walls that will be there once it is finished. They have all of the insulation in as well. Of course, the ac that is being pumped in is only temporary since it isn't set up the way it will be when the enclosure is completed.

the park does not stay open later because the animals will be disturbed

It used to be open 7 am to 7 pm all year, and 7 am to 8 pm during the summer, and has been open till midnight for on a couple New Years Eve nights (not last year). There are animals who stay outside at night...every night in Africa, actually, and what about the animals outside every night at Animal Kingdom Lodge? With their hearing, I can guarantee you they hear the fireworks at the other parks, but are fine with it.

Does anyone else but me wonder why Disney is rehabbing an attraction to put in air conditioning right after the summer is over? :hammer: Why didn't they put this in during the spring?

I was just wondering are the posted rehab closure times usually accurate? Do they often run over? I'm thinking of course of Shades of Green which has run over twice.
We're going Oct 4 and will be soooooooooo sad if Lion King is still closed. It is an awesome show.:(

Actually, I think that is the reason they don't have a night time show...I doubt the animals would be disturbed at night if the park were still open...

That's when it was originally supposed to happen. Then we went to war and all projects were put on hold. Besides, it's not just air conditioning they are adding. Heat will also be added for the week or so it gets cold.

I hope it reopens on the 25th like they've said. Friday the 26th was the day I had picked for us to go to AK so that timing would be perfect!

also, the walls are meant to block wind. In the past high winds have caused some pretty bad problems for the fire juggler.

Actually, the curtains were enough to prevent that. However, we currently have to turn off all the fans (which is a LOT right now) for the fire act because we are circulating so much air in there right now.

I personally am worried that the AC might have the same effect when the enclosure is built since the walls are going to contain the air flow. But, we will have a week of brush-ups to warn us of any problems.

But, for the most part, the enclosure is mostly being built for the purpose of keeping the elements out (heavy rain normally downs the show) and keeping cold air in. Enclosed areas mean more $$$ for Disney because people like to escape the Florida heat. And the more places at Animal Kingdom that are inside means more visitors.

Just to give a couple of updates:

Only three more days (or 22 shows) left until we go dark.

The framework for the AC ducts has been laid, and some of the actual AC units are now being installed.

The actual construction of the roof and walls however is behind schedule because of the rain. I guess the 4 years of drought made them forget that it rains every day in Florida.

They now work during the day between shows now, and sometimes during show. This only cause a major problem once, and has been solved.

All of the "trashbag" walls coverings are down, and plain brown walls sit in their place.

We are still planning on a Sept. 20 re-open.
