We are DVC members who usually go during Thanksgiving/Christmas. Due to scheduling issues we are going August 5th - 12th. I know what the books and charts say but I wanted to hear from people who actually go during this time period. Any help is greatly appreciated.

First...I need to say that we go three times per year. Two weekend trips and one 10 day trip through DVC and I am not one of these people who like to "arrange" my trip itinerary 180 days in advace. A fellow DVCer clued me in on how to beat the system...his theory to preserve "spontaneous"...

Our family has been both times you are referring to but prefer to go before Thanksgiving. ONLY because we felt rushed once we returned home so close to Christmas (returned home Dec. 23rd)...wrapping presents, finalizing decorations and such. Both times had relatively equal crowds. It is just...

We were there for the DVC/AP preview and absoltely loved the ride. I was curious about Chum and asked a CM about it being an animatronic. She explained that she was told it scared too many kids in the early demos and was on hold. It does not reduce the thrill of the ride for the little ones...

Congrats to John Lassiter and all who had a hand in the making of this movie. It is truly one of my all time favorite Disney animations.

I know Saratoga Springs has grills around some of their outdoor areas. We grilled some burgers and dogs one evening waiting for the fireworks over Pleasure Island. It was a good time. I can't speak of the other resorts but can not remember it being part of any other trip.

This all goes back to the lady who thought her son was entitled to a DisneyDream award because other people in the park got one. The ticket does not entitle you to anything but what it is designed for. If you are lucky enough to get a CM to let you in after your time...then great. If not...
