The first paragraph under "World's Largest Private Construction Project" hits on this topic.
I think that you are on to something, Mickster. I pulled out my copy of "Building a Dream" by Beth Dunlop and on page 46 it states:
"Because Disney bought land in two counties, Orange and Osceola, he asked the Florida legislature to create a special drainage district called the Reedy Creek...
Thanks... I was just curious since there was a news update on the home page for WDWmagic.com on Aug 26 that said "you can get some great views of the shuttle from within the parks." I did not figure that that meant of the orbiter itself, but maybe just the exhaust from the rockets.
Do you really get to see anything or is it just watching smoke from the engines streaming into the sky? Can you hear anything as it breaks sound barriers?
I'm still new to this and not quite sure how to post pictures, but if you go to http://www.jtcent.com/disneysea/american/amwtot.html and start with picture #440, you will get an idea of what I am talking about.
You can also go to the official site for the Tower of Terror in Japan...
I was looking at some of the photos for Tower of Terror in Japan and noticed that Mr Hightower bears a striking resemblence to Joe Rhodes. Anyone else think so?
Vegas balconies
I realize this is off subject, but since it was brought up... the MGM Grand in Las Vegas has terrace suites. Your room has an outdoor patio overlooking The Strip. The Stardust Hotel also had rooms in their East Wing (9-story building) with balconies. But you're right...
Studios
Actually, Mickey is over at the Studios. I purchased some pins last year that had four of the lots at the Studios (I cannot remember if there are more). There is Stage (Mickey), Television (Minnie), Film (Goofy), and Music (Donald).
Amazing!
La Nouba is an incredible experience! Highly recommended! Someone mentioned guests sitting there with jaws open and I can vouch for that -- I was one of them. This show is along the same calibre as Cirque du Soleil's show "O" at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. You will not be...
Transformation
From what I recall, when Cinderella Castle was transformed into the cake, there were no major walls up. I remember going to WDW around May 1996 and they were painting the lower half of the castle pink. But they didn't go out of their way blocking your view of the castle with tarps.
I Think I have another reason why they tore it down,Horizens was about the 20th century, now we are IN
The 20th Century. And who wants to ride it when it's about today?
We are in the 21st century now, right?
A few weeks ago, there was a show on the Travel Channel about Disney...
Has anyone heard about refurbishments going on in World Showcase at EPCOT? Someone was telling that they heard several countries had screens up around the buildings. If this is true, any ideas how long they might be up?
I'm taking a friend to WDW in a few weeks that has never been before.
