If you hate all that is Disney?

Florida pretty consistently ranks as the worst state for driving in terms of number of accidents, I figure it is all the retirees! Cheryl mentioned Boston but Boston has a very low rate of crashes compared to FL. MA is way down for number of accidents, I have driven through 46 of the 48 states...

If you hate all that is Disney?

It occurred to me that perhaps your declining interest ( and mine) is also a result of just getting a little tired of Disney after going so much? I find that as I get older everything seems to lose its shine a bit and I need to keep looking for new activities, destinations and stimulation. I...

I'll be there in late August, last time I was there at that time period a few years ago crowds were not terrible

    Cost of Disney

My point is that the cost of a Disney vacation is going up at a rate that far exceeds the decline in purchasing power of a dollar and that is not simply an issue of anecdotal evidence. In other words; WDW is about three times more expensive in real terms today than it was in 1983. Beyond...

    Cost of Disney

$14 in 1983 corrected for inflation using the consumer price index method is $35 dollars in 2017 so it is three times more expensive today than when that ticket was printed. For reference $100 dollars today adjusted to 1983 buying power was $41 * * I am an economist.

    Cost of Disney

I think the prices are straining the limits of being reasonable when you compare the alternative options for vacation spending. WDW charges high end prices for mid level accommodations, food and service. However for children's entertainment they are about as good as it gets so as a family its...

If you hate all that is Disney?

Before I start my workday I spend15 minutes on this forum for some escapism. Occasionally I am a bit grumpy and post something grouchy but I agree with CherylM, this site is in general very friendly and positive and it seems like almost everyone posts with good intentions. I first went to WDW...

Admission for a border line three year old?

    Resort Advice.....Polynesian or Beach Club???

The difference between something feeling "classic and charming" vs. "dated" often has a lot to do with our ages. I LOVE the poly and feel it is classic, but for my parents it is dated because the lived through the 50s-60s tiki revival. I suppose my kids might feel that 90s era stuff is...

What are your top 4 fast pass rides at AK?

AK is my favorite park, it is the best at doing what disney does best, transporting you to another reality! I think Everest, and the Safari are must FP for me and I'd do Avatarland with my other two FPs but only because I haven't seen it yet. Kali River is almost always no wait first thing in...

    Increased daily rates

I think that was the original idea behind the value resorts. Up until fairly recently they were under $100 per night, and sometimes they still are when there are special deals. $150 + a night is madness for a hotel of the caliber of the value resorts IMO. They'll keep raising the prices and...

News Magical Express to pickup 4 hours before flight departure time due to new security measures

One of the best travel strategies I would suggest to anyone for any trip is to travel as light as possible. The less stuff you travel with the eaiser everything is.

    Increased daily rates

I am but one person but its getting close for me. I am debating tenting in FW this august to stay in the MK area but not spend a mint. Usually I am a Deluxe resort kinda WDW visitor but its harder and harder to justify. Though given current crowd levels, it might be as good financially to have...

yes for sure a few days missed in HS are a much bigger deal than in elementary school.

    Increased daily rates

As others have said its more about extracting value than paying for it. If they can use the gondolas to justify price increases or a reclassification of the resort they will do it to increase profits. The nickle and diming and profit above all else attitude over the past decade is one of the...

    Car or no car?

Personally one of the great joys of a wdw vacation for me is that I don't have to drive. WDW is a place where I don't have to worry about anything including driving. I take long road trip vacations every year and don't dislike driving but at WDW I love not having to think about it.
