News Refurbishment coming soon to Disney's Polynesian Village Resort - Moana details to be included

Didn’t Chapek recently say or it was leaked that Grand Floridian lobby etc needs totally gutting and the whole thing also needs a refurb. The new bar was just the start?

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

Europe is a big place with lots of very different countries. 20 years ago the US used to have better service than the UK generally in restaurants. Nowadays no difference - not sure whether it’s because UK is better or US worse, I think possibly a bit of both. I travel extensively usually but...

News Refurbishment coming soon to Disney's Polynesian Village Resort - Moana details to be included

To be honest I don’t blame them. They don’t exploit the IP in the hotels nearly enough. They’d be able to convert IP into cash - for example the kids may want to stay in ‘Moana’ and as a result it attracts a premium price over Polynesian themed hotel and also gives it something no other hotel...

News VISIT FLORIDA Research report highlights dramatic reduction in visitors to Florida

We can’t come from UK- that alone is a huge loss of money pumped into the economy- most of us come for 2 weeks minimum.

News Disney Lakeshore Lodge (Project 89 - Development near Fort Wilderness)

They even knock out decent hotels in the Canaries- I stayed in this one 20 years ago when it first opened in Gran Canaria- Gaudie inspired.

    Top 5 Restaurants at WDW

I’m going by what we enjoy, and also taking into account what the kids like and a value element also: 1. Wave. 2. Yak and Yeti. 3. Nine Dragons (we think surprisingly good, it’s my son‘s favourite restaurant). 4. Ale and Compass. 5. O’Hana.

Construction restarted at Walt Disney World Resort - What is Actually still on

Presumably then they are not expecting Riviera to sell out any time soon?

News Disney Lakeshore Lodge (Project 89 - Development near Fort Wilderness)

I thought Reflections looks a lot better than Riviera, which I agree is a very generic looking hotel, built on a very generic piece of land with a massive car park and road out front. Reflections looks much, much better than that.

    The AP extension thread

No UK visitor could ever justify that basis for an AP as even 21 day UK park hoppers with golf and water parks are under $500. So basically on that logic Disney will never, ever sell an AP to a foreign visitor. UK visitors have already reported Universal saying they will take it from the date...

    The AP extension thread

I hope they do something for us international pass holders- we buy to coincide with 2-3 trips in a year, and it looks like most of this year is out on planes from UK thus missing our dates entirely meaning it was a monumental waste of cash.

Rumor: Jungle Book Boat Ride at Animal Kingdom

Kali would be good if it was twice as long, but it’s pathetically short. NRJ would also be brilliant if twice as long. We need long boat rides, Splash Mountain is great as it is long.

    SSR Update

I haven’t been able to find out if the SSR construction is ongoing. There’s no reason for it to stop. Construction stopped at WDW for monetary reasons (not because construction is not allowed), the SSR refurb is different as it is paid out of dues, and that money is sat there in an account...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Coronavirus looks to have a circa 30x higher death rate than flu. It isn’t flu. To suggest 20x more have succumbed to flu etc, does not show understanding of the issue. Hardly anyone, in comparison to flu, has got Coronavirus. Coronavirus is however extremely virulent and passes (it would...

Journey Into Imagination With Figment To Be Replaced With An Inside Out Attraction?

They need to do a Figment version of Mystic Manor, using the same tech and ride system to journey into Imagination. It would 100% be a winner.

10 night split stay at 7 month window

Yes I’ve just done this, ADRs could not be done. I didn’t ring as couldn’t be bothered and got everything I wanted anyway on the 180 day out of the second booking. I do know some have rang and they have said they won’t do it, so not sure. FP also didn’t work initially but they sorted that...

    Boardwalk 2 bedroom...2 bunks?

Boardwalk, 2 bed (standard view). In the studio section where the kids are, the table in front of the TV is a Murphy. Only 1 Murphy. So this sleeps 2 in the king in the master, 2 on the sofabed in the living room (no Murphy there ) 2 on the sofabed in the studio section, 2 on the queen in the...

    Riviera

Like Captain America we visited and were unfortunately not impressed, and I am v disappointed as I like to stay at every resort and my wife and kids said they will not stop. After much deliberation, I’ve concluded that it’s because it’s built on a piece of repurposed land, and the standard view...

Top Of The World Lounge Menu?

We went up on 12/30 for the 6.30 showing of the NYE fireworks. Has some nachos, flatbreads and cocktails which were reasonably priced. It was great and the NYE fireworks are phenomenal from there as I’m sure 7/4 will be. There were only about 50 people up there plus us I’d guess. Highly...
