Avengers Campus - Reactions / Reviews

This is one of the worst rides I've ever seen. Supposedly the music is licensed from Sony and dumb corporate issues require a "B-mode" free of Sony copyright for official Disney purposes (media day). I'm curious what the final ride will look like w/ the soundtrack and (presumed) banter from...

Politics 28000 Layoffs coming to Disney's domestic theme parks - statement from Josh D'Amaro

I hesitate to say because of the sensitivity of this topic and fear of scaring people more. If you're CMs reading this, I feel for you today. It's a dark day that been on the horizon for a while. BUT. Disney's P&R does have most of its personnel in Florida. Even office and technical with CA...

A sequel? Nah, not this one

GSATs are at record levels all over Orlando because of the lower crowds. The parks don't feel like a power plant that's going critical.

A sequel? Nah, not this one

Literally the only two things the park will have going for it are Ratatouille and Guardians. And the Guardians ride is really going to deliver. Rumors of giant planetarium domes similar in scale to the old Horizons space scenes. Show scenes in between. It's Revenge of the Mummy x100. It's...

A sequel? Nah, not this one

Been wondering what would be worthwhile to post about as the "thing" I keep hearing about is not ready for public consumption. Having said that, here are some thoughts. Disney can brag about how much debt cash they raised but the FY21 budgets reflect realism. A lot of low level and mid sized...

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

You’re not totally wrong. The Disney executive “profiles” as featured in the article do generally get a editorial read from Zenias office in Burbank before going to press. This was a typical executive gushing article just like the classic ones.

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

Has this article gotten any buzz on here? https://www.bloomberg.com/amp/news/articles/2020-08-12/disney-s-ceo-jettisons-once-sacred-businesses-during-pandemic?__twitter_impression=true Some gold quotes: Besides scrapping the networks, he shut down a musical version of the animated film...

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

WDW’s closest attempt at a regional park kind of ride is the Slinky Dog Coaster. One of the most popular rides in the park.

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

They drove off a squillion modest income middle class guests while hosing down their new core audience of lifer guests who visit several times per year (high revenue out of town demographics as Chapek puts it). Said new audience is now dramatically “down scaled” as the business people say it...

No. But if a bunch of us started saying “yes” page views will jump thru the roof and more YouTube videos would follow.

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

Btw I got a little gossip on the French restaurant at Epcot, tho it’s not earth shattering (also rumor warning. Grab your blankets because a *rumor* is being discussed). Apparently WDW doesn’t care if the operating participant in France bails. From Disney’s POV, they can simply take Chefs back...

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

Real talk: People on this board don’t need business classes. They need to see the real life experience of running theme parks with their own eyes. Things are pretty screwed up at a theme park in the best of times, much less poor times. Probably doesn’t help that most recent college grads that...

France Exec. Chef retires no timeline on table service

Given the knowledge that Epcot would be dropping to 7pm closings, one wonders if this announcement was a coincidence.

France Exec. Chef retires no timeline on table service

Bruno Vrignon, executive chef at Epcot’s France pavilion, announced on Friday that he was retiring after 38 years. "Asked when the restaurants would reopen, Eric Weistroffer, JBI’s executive director, mused that the real question was *if* they would reopen." Everything is fine.
