I'm imagining something similar to POR for rooms: you get the "cheapest" rooms with basic Polynesian theme, but then there's the ultra special (aka expensive) rooms that will be Moana and thereabouts themed, like the Tiana Princess Room

True, you could get a more enhanced experience at a price, but at least you had a free option. The issue -which is likely occurring- would be if they removed that basic free option and left people with only paid options.

If I knew nothing about Disney history and someone showed me the Tron box side by side with Space Mountain and said "Okay, one of these was built in 1975 and the other has just been done, in 2020, which is which?" I'd assume the basic ugly box was what they could manage to put out with 1975...

There's nothing as worrying as even the concept images looking cheap and low effort. This is certainly one project that won't be much missed if halted indefinitely due to the pandemic.

Ah, I see. I just assumed leaving the land empty would just be a loss of money, so if they're not going to use it, there'd be less financial loss to selling it than paying for its upkeep

I'm no connoisseur so in my mind, pause means "we're halting this project but we're keeping the land and such until we are again at a good financial situation to get back to it", whereas cancelled to me sounds like "we have no plans of trying again, and we're likely selling the land or using it...

I hope it's just paused. I'd really hate for Universal, who decided to try and go bigger instead of just stagnating as they were, to see their attempts for more backfire to the point of being cancelled. Fingers crossed
