I was sitting outside drinking a beer at Backlot Express on Sunday. Chatted with a CM who was on "guard duty" making sure people weren't entering in the exit and wearing masks correctly. He got pretty honest with me and just in my 30 min stay watched him correct dozens on masks, where to enter, how to order, or where to sit. He had a good attitude about it, but it has to be exhausting. I had to pick up a new AP card and made a guest compliment at guest services, so I hope that helped outweigh some of the negativity that he's received.

I was talking with a cast member while we were visiting the parks. He did comment to me that when he takes vacation he goes as far away from WDW as possible. I can see that to rest and recharge one needs different surroundings.

Suggesting Disney can do better is not equal to making excuses. I would expect Disney to provide the same level of customer service and courtesy that my local grocery store does, and they don’t nit-pick about what is an acceptable form of a mask. Nobody does except Disney and universal that I’m aware of.

I’m frankly glad that Disney didn’t “do better” given that this man might have posed an even greater danger had he managed to get into the park. That he was kept out and prevented from being among other guests is a good thing, though I hate that a security guard was attacked in the process.

Unless you are under the threat of imminent physical harm, assaulting another person is inexcusable. And regardless of your feelings on them as a company, they don't owe anyone jack squat after they show you the rules, it is up to you as an intelligent human being to read and decide if you can handle following them, even if it is a vacation. They should not be expected to placate every disgruntled guest that decides rules are hard and it's tantrum time. Just because their parents failed doesn't mean Disney has to pick up the slack, or anyone for that matter.

I always hear about those "Karen" memes of people assaulting (verbally and physically) poor workers for minor inconveniences. And to think we have one on the thread! Highlights:

-Oh the family had to walk to and through a parking lot because of their own failure to comply with well known rules? NO WONDER the guy went for assault!

-MAYBE if only the worker had gone above and beyond and carried extra masks in his pocket to offer them this wouldn't have happened!!! He ONLY enforced the rule instead of bending backwards to accommodate, clearly Disney is failing here!!!

-I read somewhere the worker was going to call backup. CLEARLY it wasn't assault! The mas was just trying to knock the phone out of his hand to stop him calling back up! Totally okay now!

I feel like we have the man's lawyer posting here on the thread
