Disney World Planning is far too complicated (CNBC article)

When Galaxy's Edge opened... lol... omg... they had those early early Magic Hours for resort guests. We had seen photos of the crowds, so we arrived I think at like 5:45am?? Who knew the buses would even run that early??? That is madness. Look, it was amazing. We got photos with the Millenium...

Disney World Planning is far too complicated (CNBC article)

Yes! And while I am a very much an early bird, not everyone is. Forcing people into the parks at the butt-crack of dawn because they fear they won't get on a ride they may have traveled thousands of miles and spent possibly tens of thousands of dollars to experience... it just dumb. There are...

Disney World Planning is far too complicated (CNBC article)

I think from your post history, and I could be wrong, is that you travel as a group of 2 adults? That could color your experience. As the father of 3 kids, and having visited parks with them in tow now for 11 years consecutively, the experience stinks now. As in, we opted to not renew anything...

What ride going away would bother you the most

I think Dumbo would cause riots. For me, Haunted Mansion might send me over the edge. Nothing at Epcot would bother me. Nothing at HS would bother me, maybe ToT, but it would depend on the replacement. AK maybe EE?

    Death at Icon Park accident

Is it being demolished, though? More likely just relocated? Can you confirm? Dr. Doom is more of a launch tower than a drop, in my opinion. The biggest force is upward, pressing you into the seat.

    Death at Icon Park accident

You can choose to be angry or realistic. This kid wasn’t just over the suggested limit, he was +100lbs over. He was offensive lineman big. Nobody ever said fat, except you. Sorry, there are some things that large people can’t do. I’m over 6’ and 240lbs myself. This has nothing to do with...

    Death at Icon Park accident

Yep, they also found training was lacking or non-existent, nobody really read the manuals, and that the rider was over 100lbs over the limit. Adjusting the sensors was blamed but probably worked on regular oversized guests, just not very large people. I can’t believe there wasn’t a seatbelt...

So is Legoland worth the price?

We were Lego pass holders for years, our kids loved it. It was fun, and a nice option to have. They constantly have buy one get one offers for tickets, but they also have had had great black friday type sales. I'd say once your kids turn 10-12 or so, they may start to lose interest, but maybe...

    Death at Icon Park accident

I think we can all agree that there was more at play here than just the ride. The owner, operator, manufacturer, and rider all share some blame. Sorry if we all disagree, but it was a series of unfortunate events. Operator was poorly trained, and probably too afraid to tell the kid to get...

How will Universal's Epic Universe effect Disney?

Hotels are easy to build. My oldest kid and I stayed at Endless Summer for HHN for $149, and the room and resort were amazing. Bus to the resort worked like magic.

Whats the most recent bad majorish ride Disney has built?

Lots of good comments and I tend to agree Millennium Falcon - queue is better than the ride Slinky Dog - we actually don't even bother if the line is over 30 minutes, and it always is Seven Dwarfs - I agree it's soooo short, but the kids love it. Ideally a 30 minute wait, but we often will do 45...

Planning 50th Wedding Anniversary for WDW original cast members - any ideas?

Since I posted this, conversation now leaning toward a cruise for them and core family that culminates at the Grand Floridian for the weekend with dinner on Friday or Saturday with everyone. (MIL has said she wants to try the GF.) Would be 20-30 folks, but only 9 would be from out of town, and...

Planning 50th Wedding Anniversary for WDW original cast members - any ideas?

My in-laws worked at WDW when it opened, and are still huge fans. They have looked to us to help plan an event for their 50th anniversary. I have some ideas, but I'm thinking the cost of doing anything at WDW are pretty obnoxious. Need someone to talk me into or out of it. ;-) Anyone here ever...

    Disney parks going Vegetarian?

Nah, because most people understand that products like peanut butter or apple butter are called that because they spread smoothly (like butter) at room temperature. And bacon, while most associated with pork, is a term that is accepted for any cured, thinly sliced meat. ;-) I mostly chuckle...

    Disney parks going Vegetarian?

I take it as a joke that they call meatless meatballs…meatballs. Probably should call them ERYTHROSINECARAMELTERTIARYBUTYLHYDROQUINONESODIUMTRIPOLYPHOSPHATESOYPROTEINPROPYLENEGLYCOL BALLS

Hollywood Studios vs Islands of Adventure

There's no doubt about your analysis, Diagon is far better, but at least you get something at IOA for a taste. ;-) The magic is when you have a 2 park pass, and the train is running (and frankly, have express pass) and can hop between parks with a little show.

Hollywood Studios vs Islands of Adventure

IOA, and I don't think it's even close. If you stay at the Royal Pacific, you can hear the Hulk at night, which just makes it more awesome, lol. If IOA could update the terrible toon island section, it would be one of the better parks around, in total. Great mix of thrills, screens, kid rides...

    Resort amenities fee

Ah the ole' resort fee scam. Advertise a rate then bolt on cleaning fees, resort fees, parking fees, fee fees, and the daily rate is doubled. And then leave an envelope in the room to suggest a tip for the staff.

Has Date-Based Pricing Helped Flatten Crowd Levels?

It doesn't impact our "planned" trips, which are based on school and work schedules for the group. We are in Orlando about 1x per month, and this plus reservations has COMPLETELY killed any drop-in trips we might have made. We have 3 kids and quite often it's me with 1 kid or 2 kids visiting...
