Big changes coming to Annual Passes

I would definitely try it for a year. Heck, I recommend it to anyone. If many did the same, Disney would loose millions of park days, Universal would gain millions of park days and Disney would soon revise their pricing strategy. Loosing huge numbers is the only way the mouse if going to stop...

Big changes coming to Annual Passes

To paraphrase a quite famous phrase about WDW...the little mouse has become one large, ravenous rat. Anybody recognise the phrase?

Parking fees at Walt Disney World theme park increase effective October 4

Not sure I'd agree with that. Yes, of course they want as high occupancy at their hotels because thats a way of increasing per guest expenditure to the maximum. Using the number previously quoted 30,459 rooms with an average occupancy of 3 that gives you a maximum of 33,352,605 guest nights...

Parking fees at Walt Disney World theme park increase effective October 4

I too find it hard too believe....but what if it was the most numerous sold because there's so many multi-day ticket. eg. they sell more 1-day tickets than 10-day tickets or 5-day tickets, but not more 1-day tickets then all multi-day tickets together. Would that possibly what your sources are...

Could Mr. Toad's Wild Ride ever come back...?

Are you counting Little Mermain and 7DMT as medieval stories too? Or do you mean Fantasyland is where all the medieval stories are? Was that when both fleets were operational or just the Western fleet? If so, I'd imagine with both they ranked quite a bit higher. Actually, now I come to think...

How old were you when you first visited the Magic Kingdom?

14 I think, though I had been to DLP at age 10. DLP off scared me off Disney for years, I hated it that much. In fact given a choice of where to go on holiday each year, I picked anything over Disney for the next 4 years. Then I visited MK (rest of WDW, Universal, Sea World also) and...

    US-192 Memories, Sucess, and Failure

I've yet to see Disney compete in the sub $50/night bracket ;) I hate the extras like resort fees that are mandatory or parking charges at hotels that aren't city centre, but even more I despise being taken for a fool with some of Disney's pricing, even if it is all included. Disney is still...

Will WDW ever build Big kid thrill rides?

I don't think his vision was only to cater to the lowest common denominator. I tend to think that the single park pulling 10m visits a year on its own should be plenty to make a profit. It point to there being many issues, but I don't think you could call 10m poor attendance. Certainly the...

Will WDW ever build Big kid thrill rides?

I'd say 3 parks, Seaworld also has far more real thrill rides than all of WDW. Agree on the theming, but new Universal is showing how you can have great thrill rides in the most immersive spaces possible. Kong is going to be another.

What Should Disney do About Vaping?

Replying no no-one in particular, but after reading what everybody as written I felt I wanted to try and tease out another perspective. First up, I'm not really fully aware of any specific anti-vaping laws in the US or specifically Florida - if someone points me in the right direction I will...

    Soarin Expansion

I'll take over then doing nothing, but think for the space and expense a new ride would have been a far better for new attraction starved WDW visitor. It would give the park a boost too. Nothing like a new ride to create some buzz and excitement. It's something almost all visitors will know...

    Soarin Expansion

I can't see any reason it needs to close at all. Possibly for a day to re-jig the queue but nothing more. There's no reason they can't upgrade one theatre after the new one opens, then after that's done do the last. If they choose to-do so is another thing though. Completely agree. It's...

    American Express Traveller's Cheques

Having used travellers cheques quite extensively for 25+ years and being used to them being treated as cash throughout the US; in Florida 2 years ago was the first time I encountered any trouble. I don't remember any specific issues at WDW a couple of servers didn't seem to even know what they...

    Best Resort for the Money

I know you said on-site, but if cost is an issue I think you should consider off-site. You'd could save a fortune. Either have the equivalent of a deluxe hotel for less than the price of a Disney value motel; or have a cheaper motel and really save. Pick carefully and the parks can be reached...

New Luggage tags correspond with Magic Band Color

Not sure I get what that means, but at least they're not the digital animation ones. They are so horrid.

Toy Story Land expansion announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

It received plenty of criticism, but overall, its very well done. Not just this, but it was done to plus an existing area ON TOP of everything else Universal were building at the same time, notably Diagon Alley and Transformers all in the same park. If Disney was doing this reimagination on top...

Not gone to the parks in 5 years? - What have I missed?

If you're talking about actual rides here not things like Starbucks or a new restroom, then really not very much at all. Don't expect to be thrilled in terms of new rides, the highlight being the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train which is a nicely themed kiddie coaster.

Walt Disney Word Guidebook - 1976 (Part 1)

Yes a bit. Even the coins from around the world. Featuring 3 identical coins, they were too cheap to even use a different denomination from a different currency. Would spend an extra 5 cents per product hurt that bad?

Star Wars Land announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

Apologies if this has already been pointed out, I'm 50 pages behind right now..... But remind me when did HP open? Was it 2010 and 2014? Disney probably won't even break ground on this until 2017 or 2018, then add a 5 year built time. HP will have been open 15 years by the time this actually...

    Chinese Theatre spires

Inevitable really when you take a place that millions of people love and put it in an extended period of managed decline and fail to add any decent rides for 15 years*. (*That's the opening of EE in 2005 to the opening of the Star Wars E-ticket - unlikely before 2020).
