    The Spirited Back Nine ...

The project as formulated was OIA to Convention Center to WDW to Lakeland to Tampa. Almost zero value as a commuter option.

While Disney was in no way an enthusiastic supporter of the rail project, they did offer no-cost land in exchange for a station. Probably figured it was a relatively low cost way to get a few additional guests and to avoid a very public black eye.

How is Disney denying guests this opportunity? The Lynx bus system (public transport) operates at WDW and has done so for many years. You can use the Lynx trip planner and find that you can travel from Disney property to Universal Studios for example in only 1 hour and 18 minutes.

Exactly so. The Ferrari analogy is completely apt.

    The Spirited Back Nine ...

That's a very telling quote from a Disney exec and I remember the debate well. Still in all, there were indeed discussions over a couple of decades of various transport systems but nothing was actually planned with anything concrete other than the OIA - Tampa project. By the end, Disney's...

Just curious. What "such transit plans", as in streetcar or the like, have ever been proposed in and around the greater Orlando/Disney area? And what is the "icy reception" of which you speak?

Thought this was as good a place as any for this. Don't know if there's anything new in here - many of you will know one way or another. Front page of today's O'Sentinel, by Sandra Pedicini. I'd post a link but it's behind a paywall. Headline & a few relevant paragraphs (as determined by...

Couple of post Christmas random items..... Even if Disney burgers could be described as edible, it's an unforgivable culinary sin to put the cheese on the underside of the patty. That alone should disqualify them from any menu anywhere. We paid our annual Christmas afternoon visit to the...

There's a centuries old and well understood concept in human behavior. If you want a certain behavior to be repeated, then you reward it. Parents and pet owners understand this intuitively. The theater chains and Sony have just rewarded cyber terrorism. If I'm a hacker or terrorist in Krazy...

You naysayers are incorrect to say that American Maglev has nothing to show for twenty years of existence. They built an operating system on the campus of Old Dominion University in Virginia with the help of a $7 million loan from the state. It no longer operates due to technical problems...

Fatal Accident involving Disney Bus (12/15)

Back of the envelope math on this. F&W festival: 7 paid seminars per day x 100 guests x $15 ticket x 55 days = $577,500 gross revenue (if every seat is filled, which they're not). Add in some sales from the wine shop, gift shop and beverage counter and you have maybe $1M gross over the length...

    Too crowded!!

Yep, exactly. I was at a Candlelight 5 or 6 years ago on Sunday night, Thanksgiving weekend, and the 3rd show never filled on an absolutely beautiful night.

This observation doesn't surprise me and I'm sure it didn't surprise you. After all, you can come to a site that quite ironically is called WDW"Magic" and find that people are routinely called whores, rubes, trash, mentally ill and Walmarters etc. etc. ....ad infinitum ad nauseum. More and...

Really now. Around these parts, it's considered perfectly ordinary and acceptable to call people whores, rubes, trash and mentally ill. If "nice" is your quest then you're probably in the wrong part of the internet.

Admittedly, it's presumptuous of me to try to do your thinking for you - but don't you think it's true that name calling is usually the first resort of those who lack a good argument for their position? The name calling and belittling is typically the go to strategy for those who are...

These might be your observations, but wife and I are usually surveyed 2 or 3 times a year on our dozens of visits. And that's with me having a look of indifference or possibly even a scowl on my face.
