Florida commission: Disney discriminated against autistic visitors

That is true for ET. Not for Despicable Me, Hogwarts Express, Shrek, MIB and Disaster. I took my power chair inside each and did the transfer at boarding.

Florida commission: Disney discriminated against autistic visitors

The pRobles we are addressing is that Disney used to handle the issue of mobility disability and ADA vehicles well when they issued GAC and told those folks to go wait in the wheelchair line directly. Then you could manage your wait times and ability based on your needs. If the wheelchair line...

Florida commission: Disney discriminated against autistic visitors

One of the things that often gets repeatedly incorrectly on the discussion about this subject are the actual numbers of usage and abuse Disney found at WDW vs DL for GAC. At the time of the switch in 2013, it was reported Disney surveyed how many requests for GAC GR relations received at all...

Plan to Roll Out Electronic Version of DAS at WDW?

I'm confused. Does this mean to get a DAS return time, you need to visit a FP+ kiosk now? Or can it be done with the MDE app? Also, I thought DisneyLand wasn't using Magic Bands yet. That's only in WDW. Just to be clear, not only autistic people are using DAS. It actually covers a lot of...

7DMT FP....seems a lot opened up for next week

Uh oh, last time I got this they were doing a FP+ Only trial. Any rumors on that for 7DMT?

Wasted space from unused handicapped seating.

Thanks for proving my point. Like I said, this is the attitude that creates the most problems with using handicapped seating for non-handicapped persons. Now if everyone had the opposite attitude of "Of course I'll stand if someone comes along in greater need" the policy of filling every seat...

Wasted space from unused handicapped seating.

This. Trouble ensues when they start filling up designated handicapped spaces with non-handicapped people. Just ask any wheelie or bus driver who's tried to load a wheelchair after some people have sat on those designated seats. Musical Chairs can become one of the most hostile games on the planet.

Cancellation depression: Tell me why 2015 will be better than 2014

The new Hub/Moat area should be done by next Christmas. There's also a report out today that the new Frozen/Maelstrom ride may be in soft testing December 2015. Disney Springs should have an open parking garage then and some new restaurants on the waterfront. A good bit of construction will be...

Cancellation depression: Tell me why 2015 will be better than 2014

Oh God, please please no. I enjoy Frozen but really there is such a thing as overload.

Grand Floridian Bus Tracker Project Update/ My Magic+

I love the idea so much I've been recommending it for years at Saratoga. Maybe Disney execs have finally heard us. It sure does decrease guest angst when they know a bus is on the way and how long until it arrives. I'm a wheelie guest so availability for me is extremely limited (2-4 spots per...

First time going to Disney! thoughts on CR, Poly, or GF?

We own DVC at the Contemporary (Bay Lake Tower). I can tell from my experience staying at that resort and hopping to the others it is the better choice. Polynesian used to be a beautiful resort and have some of the best views of the Cinderella's Castle across Seven Seas Lagoon. Unfortunately it...

Have you ever been evacuated off of a Disney ride?

I broke Winnie the Pooh my last trip in September. Well not me actually. I ride the ADA/wheelchair car and the door to let me out broke. It slides open on both sides. CMs couldn't get both sides open. So I had them send me around a couple times while they waited for the right maintenance guys to...

    FP+ meltdown part x

The problem with offering a Universal type of paid Express pass is that there are too many hotel guests in Disney World to support it. Universal's total hotel rooms are a fraction of what Disney offers. So who are you giving it to for free? The guests who pay to stay only at the Deluxe Resorts...

    FP+ meltdown part x

CMs are resort guests if they book a room. That shouldn't even be considered in the same sentence, surely.

    FP+ meltdown part x

It could also be because it makes DAS way too easy and tempting to the abusers. As it stands now going through the hassle of (A) visiting Guest Relations to get a new card every trip, (B) going to the attraction to ask for a handwritten return time, then (C) coming back later, cumulates in...

    FP+ meltdown part x

Ok here's where my experience being a GAC/DAS user is limited. I cannot do any rollercoaster so have never been in a line for one. Where I did encounter other GAC users were places like TSMM. They sent GAC users up the same ramp to wait for the two revolving vehicles whether you could transfer...

    FP+ meltdown part x

I thought CMs were being given a 7 day booking window, not 60 days. That would put them ahead of AP holders. The system is supposed to be 60 days for onsite guests with tickets. 30 days for AP holders. 7 days for CMs and their guests. Same day for offsite guests with tickets in the park at...

    FP+ meltdown part x

Hang on, your logic seems flawed to me. You're saying that Standby times went down when GAC was eliminated. But by eliminating GAC that forced more people into the Standby line. So if there really were that many people using GAC to skip Standby and go directly into the FP line then shouldn't the...

    FP+ meltdown part x

I don't want to degrade this into a GAC/DAS debate but the GAC abuse figures never did add up for WDW like they did DL. There were not that many GAC users in WDW. The figure came out to approximately 1% of the entire visitor population at any given time. DL had a use rate of 25%. I highly doubt...

    FP+ meltdown part x

Like hell they didn't have a choice. Sorry for the profanity but I do not believe a company that has ultimate power over how many passes it gives out and when cannot release them whenever they damn well please. The system, as it was proposed last year, was that they would give out X number of...
