The Simpsons, I'll grant you. They've been a bit tone deaf in recent years on certain issues. But why on Earth bring up Hans Gruber?

Yes. Actually. Turner Classic Movies, the past few weeks, have been running their short documentary on the history of blackface in films. That was first released back in January, or at least that's when they also made it available on Youtube. It was produced well before all the attention now...

Again, I did not say that. I said it was evocative of stereotypes, in the same way that the goblins from Harry Potter are evocative of stereotypes of Jewish people. Again, I don't think in either case this was deliberate, but it shows how racial bias can seep into everyday life.

There also existed African-American inventors, entrepreneurs, law makers, cowboys, etc. They tend to show up less in the movies of the time. Funny, that. Me: We should take steps to recognize the ways in which biases, prejudices, and stereotypes can unconsciously influence creative works. You...

I never said Br'er Fox, or any of the characters, were explicitly black. I DID say they evoke characteristics of stereotypes that have often been applied to black characters in film. Since I mentioned it before, let's draw a comparison between Br'er Fox and the goblins from Harry Potter. The...

The same way that Mammy from Gone With The Wind is a stereotype despite being portrayed by a black actress.

You realize there are levels of anthropomorphism, right? If I'm following your line of logic correctly, Prince John shouldn't be levying taxes on the people of England, because lions don't actually use money, and they're not native to England.

You asked about other attractions, people have repeatedly pointed out times it has been mentioned, and even told you where you could find them, and you brushed it off.

If there is no economy in Splash Mountain, then who makes all the clothes then? When you anthropomorphize animals and stick in pants and give them tools, then yes, these are logical (if admittedly very nerdy and pedantic) lines of questioning to follow.

Uh-huh. And the house elves and goblins in Harry Potter are pure fantasy constructs, and don't have any unfortunate implications about any groups in the real world.

So, if I'm understanding the rules correctly, I'm supposed to explain how Splash Mountain draws on pre-existing prejudices and stereotypes, but I'm also supposed to divorce Splash Mountain from any pre-existing social context while doing so? Is that right? Splash Mountain didn't just emerge from...

It's literally there in the ride. Rabbit runs away from home to find adventure, Fox tries to catch Rabbit to eat him instead of getting a job so that he has money to buy dinner, and Br'er Bear goes "duhhh..." in practically every other line of dialogue.
