Advice/suggestions appreciated on a possible visit to Universal

Ok, the absolute best way to "do Universal" is to stay at a Deluxe resort (Portofino, Hard Rock, and Royal Pacific) because you get free Unlimited Express passes for everyone in your room for all the days of your stay including check-in day and check out day. So for 3 days of EPs you only have...

Toy Story Land expansion announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

The thing that throws me for a loop, even accepting the storybook trope, is the entrance to Be Our Guest looks miles from the Castle. Like we have to walk through the Mines of Moria to get there. But BOOM (cue the music) "Try the grey stuff...". With NFL, I find it best to turn off the...

Toy Story Land expansion announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

I'm not saying the storybook thing worked as intended or was even a good decision. I just remember seeing an interview with an Art Director from Imagineering where he explained it using phrases like "a page ripped from a storybook" and gave a anecdote about how in a storybook they use pastel...

Toy Story Land expansion announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

I think it works ok if you think about it in the storybook context when you are looking at it, but no one does because Disney has already trained us to expect "realistic" forced perspective. So we see wonky sizes and what appears to be sun faded paint instead of "watercolor". Interesting, but...

Toy Story Land expansion announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

Just a small point. Beasts Castle isn't supposed to look like a realistic forced perspective castle. It is supposed to look like a watercolor illustration in a children's storybook. That part of New Fantasyland is even called Storybook Forest.

Express Pass recommended for Wed early November visit, Islands of Adventure?

Historically, you would be fine. But since travel resumed after the pandemic lock downs, all bets are off. Everytime a predicted slow down happens, everything is still at 92%. Orlando is just riding the wave and raking in the $$$$$. The good thing is you can buy Express Passes in the park if you...

News Space 220 Restaurant dining experience at Epcot's Future World

I think the comparison to Coral Reef are spot on. Aside from the ceiling, the design elements are quite similar. Throw in the limited menu of mediocre food. And... BOOM! Coral Reef: IN SPACE (add dramatic echo effect in post)
