Visiting Islands of Adventure on a wed 2nd week, Nov.

Should I shell out the extra ~$400 for a family of 5 (2 adults, children ages 6,8,10) for the express passes (use 1 per ride)? Hoping to ride most things in the park - they are tall enough to go on MOST but not all rides.

touringplans estimates a 2 for that day. I'd say no :)

For that kind of money and 3 kids.. you could probably stay in a uni deluxe hotel for 1 night and get unlimited expresspass for two days.

$498 all in will get you a room at the royal pacific for one night.

I know, I regretted not doing it, as the express pass pays for itself that way. I am staying off property right near AK and HS (<2 miles) for 9 full nights and we have Uni IoA slated for in the middle of our visit, so we will drive the rental the 30+ minutes over and thats that.

So a 2 huh? I'd be best to save my money and just brave some lines with them?

Historically, you would be fine. But since travel resumed after the pandemic lock downs, all bets are off. Everytime a predicted slow down happens, everything is still at 92%. Orlando is just riding the wave and raking in the $$$$$. The good thing is you can buy Express Passes in the park if you need them.

This might be the smart play. Show up and if the place is a zoo buy the passes. If the waits are reasonable just skip.

Another thing to note at Universal, in my experience the parks clear out towards the end of the day.

I've been there on days where Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey has 60+ minute waits during the day, but is a walk-in for the final hour of the day, as an example.

If you know you can handle a full day, you can skip some of the longer lines during peak periods and come back later.
