well…I agree that these things need to be addressed….but only if Disney is going to fix all the issues (for example mansions jokes about suicide is incredibly offensive…). I have always loved splash and between re theming it and things like prices increasing, this entire Genie+ cash grab, and...
That’s kind of where we were at too. If you do the math and believe there are plenty of other great places to vacation in addition to Disney....DVC isn’t worth it.
I just was discussing with a close friend how we are both getting much more DVC marketing emails lately too. Seems to be a concerted effort amid the pandemic
I’m in the crowd of “it will significantly change”...we were originally tossing around the idea of summer ‘21 for the anniversary...and we have already tabled that until 2023 at the earliest. Honestly at this point, crowds just don’t seem like a good time to me anymore. Maybe sometime in the...
Exactly, especially if we are considering not just the ride but the source material as we are with Splash. As I have mentioned, I’m a liberal person all for meaningful change...but If this is the direction society is going....it needs to be total. Picking and choosing what we are going to get...
I mean Disney princesses are feeding into body image issues for young girls across America. When are they going to redesign them to look “normal”?
Haunted mansion makes a joke on suicide minutes after entering....
Jungle Cruise head hunters scene has made me uncomfortable for years...
Peter Pans...
What I want is Disney to apply this consistently. And recognize that if they are going to do this then they need to remove ALL problematic attractions/scenes. At least that is fair to all groups. And once that happens many that are cheering this on are going to realize what people meant by a...
Exactly, the princesses are problematic too. To stand here and cast stones at anyone who is not on board with this change....and then magically act like Song of the South and Splash Mountain are the only problems Disney has is pretty ignorant frankly.
And frankly I can’t go without responding to this....that’s a pretty big assumption you’re taking there. I would say the opposite....I get why people would be offended but if you can’t see that all of those attractions I listed are just as problematic for various groups you need to take a long...
I had to run...but just wanted to quote this post and say how much I agreed with it.
I’m a VERY liberal person, but this is dangerous. I support tearing down the statues, but it’s a slippery slope...
I’m starting petitions to get rid of Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, Peter Pan, Dumbo, Hall of Presidents, Carousel of Progress, mickeys Runaway Railway, Tom Sawyer island, Pirates, and the Tiki Room.
The Mansion is based on a southern plantation mansion...and also it does have the whole hanging scene which is horrible taste outside of racial issues.
if they do that to BTMRR I’m done....I will never go through the turnstile again (since someone suggested it’s an older generation thing, I’m younger than 30 for reference)
I’m also offended that Japan treated American POW’s so horribly....yet Disney celebrates their history with a world Showcase pavilion!!!
(This is sarcasm to illustrate a point about where this is all headed...)
Probably the best president of my lifetime has talked about this briefly...this type of culture isn’t bringing about real change. Cancelling shows, and theme park rides...that’s not addressing the real issues in this country. Sure it might feel good, but it doesn’t have an impact.
