DAK “Zootopia” is being created for the Tree of Life theater

If anyone wonders why so many of us are questioning the direction that Disney is going, this should settle those thoughts. Animal Kingdom was designed to safely expose us to the world of Animals. Real Animals either depicted in animation form of real life. I know some of the snowflakes got scared during it, heck, even my grandson had to be taken out, but I wouldn't have changed a thing. We can easily see what live animals on the surface are doing and what they provide for humanity. Bugs life was an amusing demonstration of what those critters we cannot see directly are doing for the balance of nature and (small reality here) cannot live without.

They could have dialed down the one scary character to help the youngest of the guests, but to change it into just another cartoon adventure having absolutely no connection to any reality, should be shameful. Management will not be happy until they have transformed everything into useless dribble designed only for entertainment and nothing to be learned entertainment. I'm also sure that the Helicopter parents of the world had a hand in that decision as well.

I'm sure that the show will be entertaining, Animal Kingdoms new things, although possibly quality additions, have sucked the soul right out of the park. Maybe for as long as they have live animals there they might want to change the name to "Confused Kingdom" and the Notazoo description to "Yes, it is part Zoo and part MK/DHS".

I’d much rather they replace its tough to be a bug with Zootopia than putting it in Dino Land, I’d say this is a win.

Also happy that it seems to focus on the different biomes.

Interested to see how they get us from the roots of the tree of life into the world of Zootopia though, that might be a weird transition

Simple, no imagination required anymore. The Tree itself is a visual attraction. The show is more designed for kids, which is fine, however I don't think that if you asked a thousand young kids if there was any connection of the tree to the show in the theater only two might have connected it. It is just another entrance to an attraction and even adults would not have made that connection which is why they had to "tell us" what it was.

The answer is Carrot-Vision. It's so lifelike it's like we're really there... I can't believe I am going to make this comparison, but this is similar to The Bourne Stuntacular, where the premise is we're watching a surveillance system so realistic it feels like we're really there.

I am sure the reasoning behind this is because you can't bring the different biomes around Zootopia into the theater, so we are seeing them via Carrot Vision from the theater.

Did you just refer to the countless children that went into The Bugs Life experience, which is a generally frightening experience for small kids (not even subjective), who as expected … get freaked out… as snowflakes?

It just seems like an unnecessary addition to your post.

Going back to the watch party/animatronic press release, it says "In Zootopia: Better Zoogether!, the Tree of Life Theater is the epicenter of Zoogether Day with fast-talking, loud-howling wolf host Heidi Howler presenting a watch party where the audience of mammals big and small will catch all the festivities via livestream."
Does that mean Heidi Howler is presenting the watch party in the theater or the whole show? If its the first, that means there's a chance to see Heidi in the theater itself (maybe where Flik used to be??) Pure speculation but would be nice to see an attraction that had 2 animatronics replaced with one with 2 animatronics too

You are certainly entitled to your opinion. I find it better than saying that their parents were not to bright to bring them to a show that had multiple warnings.

The attraction ran for a very long time, and while it being less accessible could be a tiny factor, I doubt it’s the main reason at all the show was replaced.

All 3D theatre shows are eventually going to be dealt the same fate. Especially with older IPs that are seen as less relevant.

Has to be one of the worst attraction posters I’ve ever seen. Pretty sure someone just googled some clipart and inserted them into the Tree of Life pic.

I dislike Zootopia a lot as both a movie and its inclusion at DAK, but I’ve really tried to keep an open mind about this since it’s not an entire land (yet). Least of the evils, right?

This poster is making me fear what might be inside. Hope it’s a whole lot better!

I think you may have misunderstood the premise, but clearly it did have its issues when it managed to terrify young kids.

“Not true to the animals and had a mixed message” might be more applicable to Zootopia though.

Last I heard, grasshoppers are not some evil mastermind that hate humans. I don't understand the point in using bugs to terrify kids instead of telling a more interesting story about how bugs really are cool, showing off how cool they can be.
