Though I wouldn’t say it’s an uncommon OPINION that the scaling of the existing mountains feels a bit wonky
Maybe the frontal approach in Paris will help this but in my OPINION HK looks best from the side anyway, it looks its weakest when approaching from fantasyland and downright bad when seen from Main Street
I wonder if they received that sort of feedback. I don’t actually know if sightline criticism is something they regularly receive criticism on. The only thing I can think of is enchanted tale of belle not repeating be my guest forced perspective but I don’t know if they are directly comparable anyway since Tokyo just pays whatever it costs to get the best option anyway
I would personally like if Paris did a little internal adjusting if they did receive feedback from HK but like I said I don’t know if they get this sort of feedback or if it was particularly common, it’s certainly not as egregious to me as be our guest which I feel (but can’t prove) is a more common complaint

This video was shared on a French fan forum — someone did an amazing job simulating the ride using the new plans and syncing the music to each potential scene.
Based on this simulation, the ride could still run close to 11 minutes. With The Lion King featuring so many different songs compared to the three main ones in the original Splash Mountain, there’s a lot of music to fit in. That said, while the simulation is very impressive, a couple of the songs/scenes do feel a little on the short side and some transitions come across a bit rushed — for example with I Just Can’t Wait to Be King and Be Prepared.
Do you think Disney might tackle this by trimming certain scenes, or by slowing/pausing the boats to give the music and visuals more room to breathe? Frozen at TDS really shows how effective that approach can be with its switch track.
And just a thought — could this end up being the first Disney attraction to feature a death scene since Alien Encounter?

And there’s the difference. In Paris you’ll first see this from a distance, across a lake.

You seem fixated on the forced perspective, yet someone said in HK it appears suddenly. That isn’t the case in Paris. It will be first seen from across the lake whichever way guests approach it. I think that makes a difference. I have no idea whether it will work, but even if the land is a carbon copy, I think its placement in the par plus the different initial reveal will make s as big difference.
But yeah, I do think you’ve been dismissiive of others’ opinions. Arendelle is part of the transformative expansion of WDS referred to in the thread title. And that’s how I’m seeing this discussion.

As for the above question asking if it looks that big and close in person HK doesn’t but again Paris may be playing with a different forced perspective on the mountain because HK’s blends into the natural mountain of Lantau. Tokyo’s feels wide but not tall

The ride system, like Shanghai Disneyland’s Pirates of the Caribbean, will use a magnetic propulsion system enabling not only braking but also changes in speed, the ride duration is therefore uncertain. The officer in charge of Water Police investigations in the Disney area confirmed that it was not only about braking.

- It will be the largest show building at Disneyland Paris by far and one of the largest across any Disney parks around the globe.
- It will have the longest “track” of any rides at Disneyland Paris (including coasters) and one of the longest across any Disney parks around the globe.
