DHS Disney plans to reboot Voyage of the Little Mermaid stage show at Disney's Hollywood Studios

At this point I kind of feel like Disney should just make Jodi Benson their official ambassador. She is such a positive, old school-style Disney legend.

The show also looks good to me, and a big improvement over the original. I'm always a little wary of Disney's theme park shows (see BatB), but this actually looks like they have done a nice job of compressing the story and providing some impressive staging and effects.

I found an issue, during the final Battle you can see
Ariel or someone walk off as Ursula appears. It's at 16:05 in Drew's Video:

DHS might want to clean that up!

Well… they went ‘too digital’ imo… instead of enhancing, nostalgia characters were replaced with digital.

We can see a movie anywhere… I don’t goto a theme park to watch a movie.

I think without history of the old show it’s a good show for the park… with a broad appeal and decent payoff. It’s just a but sad they punted so much of the puppetry and practical effects.

With Disney’s track record… I’ll consider the totality of the new show a win.

I saw this twice today, and I am shocked at how much I loved it. The creative direction, told from Ariel's perspective, is one of the most brilliant decisions I've seen in a live show. My video does not do it justice. The atmosphere, effects, and colors can only be appreciated in person. Villains, on the other hand, I did not like at all.

Did you hear anyone like it? In comparison to this show it looks like it had 10% of the budget sent on the actual show and 90% on the tech, which no doubt impacted how it all went down. Here, I'd say closer to 60-40, if only because of all the new stuff needed for the screens.
I talked to many who enjoyed it, but also many who were not impressed. Every single person I talked to was impressed with Mermaid, though.

While Good, VOLM had the actual Movie Sped up after Ariel gave up her voice......

i guess we will see it when we visit Disney...have read a little bit about it online...often we're there more for the rides, but have been to many a play...still kicking myself that I had covid during Frozen the Musical, but I guess I'll end up catching it on Disney+ soon enough...however, it made me feel really good that I could share the ticket with my nephew, whose Mom passed away from cancer a few years ago...

I guess they're obliged to show Villains in that theatre for a while. But along with the Muppets RnRC refurb, they could reformat that theatre for MV3D. And, voila! Muppets Alley! "If we can dream it, we can do it", right?

Tom C. from that other site said it was a great show.

I know, I know, he is back on the media list so he must say that. ;)

I am still happy to have it open again even its not the same show and I look forward to a nice seated, dark, air conditioned attraction to enjoy.

Maybe not the best comparison but all I could find for now. Ultimately the show matters more, but this is the only thing I’m surprised they didn’t upkeep lol, guess they ran out of budget.

Perhaps there was damage here, so it had to be gutted? Could always add props later. That ceiling isn’t up to standard (unless it’s Soarin…).
