HKDL gets new castle, frozen land and marvel land.

With all this talk about expansion, HKDL will have to restructure backstage sooner than later to create more room. Tokyo has been actively tearing down backstage of Adventureland and now we know why.

I guess the Jungle Cruise will be replaced now in TDR.

I guess the Dwayne Johnson movie wasn't a big enough hit.

Maybe the foliage will be going. Must say I assumed it would just be a small themed facade entry into a tent.
That'll be interesting. Any guesses on what this "entertainment area" could be? Perhaps a PIXAR stage show or something similar to the Cruella red carpet show in Halloween but themed to PIXAR?

They said it like it was a mini land and less just like a pavilion style thing if I remember

I was imagining a sorta courtyard that’s Pixar themed with maybe a QSFB then some kinda larger playhouse in the woods

But I really don’t know how much money they are working with

shoulda expanded tsl cause its terrible. added TSM or something
It’s the most popular land in the park (and that’s not just because of its low capacity) so I don’t think they really see a problem

Regardless this seems like a spiritual expansion anyway sorta like how arendelle fixed wonky fantasyland if you consider them one land rather than 2

it being the most popular is why they should expand it imo.

I swear Toy Story is such a great IP for theme parks and yet Disney hasnt done anything well with it. Image a real fully built Toy Story land like that Dragon land in Epic Universe. It would be one of the greatest lands ever built but instead we get a small cramped 1 pathway land in US and cheap off the shelf rethemed rides overseas

I guess we will have to see what this Pixar complex is. If it’s something good it may round out Toy Story land (even if as you say it could be better), I honestly would have preferred we get a third land like mystic point or grizzly that’s designed from the ground up as a small land then they have Toy Story a decent sized land in another plot but it’s there now and it has no space to expand anymore

There is an article that appeared on Japanese financial newspaper, Nikkei, that suggests HKDL is going to restart talks with the government to purchase phase 2 land.

This article is under a paywall and is in Japanese so be mindful that this is what I interpreted from the google translated opening paragraph.

I found a version of this article with the paywall removed

HKDL posted about the X-Wing from Hyperspace Mountain being “ready for the new mission” for May the Fourth. Feels like a sign since they don’t regularly post things about Star Wars.

Yeah I saw this post and I was immediately excited, but I feel like that's just their slogan for the May the 4th post since nothing was updated today except a new "Build Your Droid" miniature figure in the gift shop of Hyperspace Mountain.

I wouldn't be disappointed if they did a Tokyo-style rebuilding of Space Mountain at HKDL and perhaps design it specifically to be Hyperspace Mountain. While the ride itself is the same as in the US, there is something about that outdoor queue area and having it just sit at ground level that makes it feel a bit tired and worn. The Star Wars props placed around the queue also just seem a little too cheap and temporary compared to the rest of the park.

Perhaps not the best potential use of their money, but also not the worst. It could be a way to kick their coast game up a little and I would also be interested to see what a purposely-designed Hyperspace Mountain would look like rather than one retro-fitted into an existing Space Mountain.

There’s nothing “wrong” with HKs mountain. Just there’s more impressive ones.

I’d rather any money went to increasing capacity by adding new impressive attractions elsewhere. They don’t have the luxury (yet) of just overhauling or replacing existing infrastructure (the castle project was a means to an end)

The castle was a soft rebranding more than anything

People were sick of HK being the cheap imitation park, no better way to fix that then give it is own large and totally unique castle

I believe they won't be rebuilding/redesigning Hyperspace Mountain anytime soon as it's one of the most popular rides for visitors. The queue is really bad and its so worn out since it's (the overlay's) debut in 2017. Perhaps a new story for the ride is what they meant?
