Man Accused of Stealing Buzzy's Clothing from Disney World Arrested

The fact the we’re back to relitigating whether the theft even happened, when it did, that's what I’m worried about. The doc could waste a unique opportunity by asking all the wrong questions.

I don't know if you've had a chance to see the documentary, but I will say that it does a fine job of presenting the story and hints heavily towards the theft of the Buzzy animatronic. It also does a solid job of presenting three forms of fanaticism. One form being for the love of the art/attraction via documentation, another form being urban exploration, and the final form being what Patrick is hoping to leave his legacy on...stealing the works of artists and reselling it.

All to say, I don't know what your hope would be for the documentary, but if anyone left the screening(s) thinking that Buzzy wasn't stolen and that it's still a mystery...I would be utterly dumbfounded that the individual was not paying attention.

Separately, Patrick claimed at the end of the documentary in a live in-person Q&A that Disney does have Buzzy and he can prove it. (But after watching an hour of the man lacking integrity of any sort, I am choosing not to believe this claim.)

I have not had a chance to see it and I don't think I'll have a shot until it gets some form of digital release. But I'm very glad to hear my worst fears about the narrative it presents didn't come to fruition. I think that was a reasonable fear given the back-and-forth we saw in this very thread recently.

Like any troll, Patrick likes stirring people up to garner attention. If he had any real proof, he could present it at any time. I wouldn't trust a guy that would steal from his own parents' business either.

He has no hard proof (nobody does) but he has off the record word from someone close to the case. I don’t know that he’ll ever share more considering it would just make him look like more of a nut job, but he’s an unpredictable person. In for a penny, in for a pound maybe. I’m not sure why he bothered even saying anything in the first place if he wasn’t going to elaborate.

Maybe he enjoys the attention?

Indeed, and he obviously doesn't care how he gets the attention. So why would anyone believe anything he says?
Bingo. And that's even more reason that real evidence would be needed. It's one thing to share some hearsay or secondhand info among friends.

I wouldn't expect anyone to believe what I've reported about the theft (and the theft case at the grocery store opened by Patrick's parents) if I hadn't gotten the records to back it up.
