Marvel's Fantastic Four

I don't base my perception of the world on a few fringe idiots that don't matter and never did matter. It's a pessimistic, dangerous, and grossly misinformed way to base ones idealogy.
Yes, you ignore things that are inconvenient or uncomfortable for you. Fantasy is always easier. That's why superhero movies are so much fun. But it's incredibly destructive to pretend fantasy is reality.

It's not ignoring, it's not focusing on defining my beliefs by them. I don't have a malicious view of the world like you do.

We're beyond such disgusting topics as the ones you focus on all the time but people like you hold us back as you use them in a veiled attempt to badmouth others.

I’m tremendously optimistic about this country. Part of that optimism is acknowledging the dark, broken parts of our history where we have failed to live up to our founding ideals and seeking to do better in the future. Ignoring that history, engaging in the tremendous bad faith of pretending it is “malicious” to acknowledge it, isn’t optimism, it’s deception often born out of a desire to perpetuate those negative aspects, to shield them from criticism.

Anyway, on the topic of optimism, we got a selection from the FF soundtrack at D23. I love it. One of my quibbles with the MCU is the lack of great character themes… we need more stuff like this.

SO, bit contrarian here, but that did very little for me. I'm not really a F4 fan, so take that into major account, but for me, I need more on plot/story/villain. Just a teaser so I'm not going to judge the movie off this (not even a little), but just to give a bit of an opposite perspective from someone who's not a huge fan of the franchise.

That said, I can see why many here would be excited. I rewatched it, and if they did one like this with say X-Men, I'd be beyond excited, so I get it. It just personally didn't get me excited, nor did it really pump me up.

Teasers normally don’t emphasize plot (look at the M3gan 2 teaser that was just released), but as someone with some knowledge of comics, I’d think the looming Galactus helmet would indicate villain and the broad plot outline.

Yup, totally get that, again, the teaser is obviously MUCH more for you guys than someone like me, and I definitely haven't judged it yet.

The actor choices seem a little off to me but the tone and vibe of the film is outstanding. It's a short clip but seemed to really embrace what makes the FF them. I love they have a real Galactus. And I think the retro vibe works well given their origin of being space explorers which was created during the real live Space Race* though I hope it isn't too heavy handed when they bring them to the mainstream MCU.

*are there any plans for them to have the Red Ghost hinted at? It would make sense if they want to do a teaser for him that they do it in this film when the FF are doing there space travel.

John Malcovich is in the teaser as the Red Ghost, although I suspect he’ll be dispatched in a montage.

Are you familiar with Galactus?
A little bit. I know the look and a BIT about him (mainly that he's super powerful. I did go back and see what you were talking about, I didn't connect it my first viewing.

I will say, my biggest takeaway from how I rank MCU movies is that the villain is as important as the heroes. If he's the main thing here, it's got potential for me to really like this movie. BUT, I also seem to dislike the space-feeling ones as well, so who knows. Anyways, I'm looking forward to a full trailer on this to see what it's all about.

I fall into this category also, I wasn’t a comic book fan growing up so this has been true of all the Marvel movies, from IronMan to Guardians, this ad makes F4 looks interesting but not very exciting, it’s interested me enough I’m looking forward to seeing more trailers though, which is probably the goal for a first ad.

This exactly right….most of us know this movie is coming…. But the first trailer is more of an announcement for the public including those who may not keep up as much… so I believe it did it’s job….and as such more story and action will come in the next trailer… just look at the Meagan 2.0 teaser… it is literally just Megan pulling some dance moves
