So, in the good news (particularly the OSHA requirement), I still have one question: why the heck can’t we have a digital health pass?

We’ll have to see exactly what gets laid out in the education plan, and what federal funding could do/not do to “large gatherings” as they pertain to the theme parks, but this will hit a lot of workers not yet vaccinated on the low vaccine states, in particular.

if they plan on being employed by the federal govt, or contractor for the govt, or as a healthcare worker, or in a school they will be mandated to receive the vaccine.

if they take a job at a company that employs more then 100 people they will be mandated to be vaccinated or submit to weekly testing.

As a legal refugee they will be afforded the same rights and responsibilities of anyone seeking legal employment in this country.

How is that applied to restaurants? Is each McDonald's a separate entity and exempt or counted as a whole and required to follow the mandate?

It’s the terminology used by various EU member nations. I actually think it’s more fitting, as you’re not crossing borders. But a rose by any other name …

Because the goal is to get everyone of eligible age in this country vaccinated. Even though the border situation isn’t a leading cause of surges or cases, it can have a real impact on hospitals in the border area. Why not just include a mandate to vaccinate all eligible individuals entering the country that plan on staying. It doesn’t have to be political, and it would ensure that more are vaccinated.

Sounds like a plan to me. Turns out we can walk and chew gum at the same time. We shouldn’t not do the rest of the plan because there’s an issue at the border. Do both

The school issue seems to be a sticking point, as far as I can tell. It will be mandated by DoD schools, BIA schools, and head start employees. It doesn’t seem to reach as far as ALL school districts. Yet.

Franchisees that own more than one and operate under one umbrella (ie, Wentana operates like 60% of Wendy’s in Montana) likely have over 100 employees. The single entity operating the Subway in your Wal Mart, probably not. But such businesses could update their franchise agreement and refuse license renewal when it comes due.

Biden has no authority to make such a mandate on private businesses. Expect lawsuits in short order.

It isn't pointless. I just got off the phone with my friend who was hesitant and then finally got J&J for him and his wife. Well, his wife has mild COVID and he said the vaccines are BS and don't work.

They were sold as making you immune, not as reducing severity of illness. That change in semantics is going to make it harder to reach the still hesitant. It's hard to justify forcing people to get it if it doesn't prevent infection and spread in a high percentage of people.

Moderna was described by medical experts as 96 % effectiveness for example. Being immune to covid sounds like 100%. Your friend may have a comprehension problem in that 96% is not 100%.

To be clear, to me a diner counts as a restaurant, as one enters, is seated, an order is taken, and then brought to the customer.

If you've ever been to McDonalds in parts of South America, going there to eat is a very special occasion and it is a restaurant company that has sold burgers in the billions.

OSHA has broad authority around safety of workers.

Not to mention the long legal precedent of governments being able to mandate vaccinations (dating back to George Washington and smallpox)

Near me it’s 14 to get working papers so all workers 12+
