The track right now hits New Orleans straight on, if that happens, and this is a Cat 4 it will be worse.
Katrina was a cat 5 and the real damage was from flooding caused by the canal wall failure. It played out over days as the water rose.
The wind effects are secondary but the storm surge will tell the tale of what damage is done.

For some reason, the Pfizer-BioNtech vaccine is now named Comirnaty. I guess they wanted something less pronounceable.
The meaning behind the name 'Comirnaty' Comirnaty is an agglomeration of the words “Covid-19 immunity” and “mRNA,” the latter indicating the technology that makes the vaccine work. As a whole, the word is intended to evoke “community,” a Brand Institute executive said

Do you forget what happened during Katrina?

Imagine that happens again but at every hospital.
I think the bigger concern now is many hospitals are designated as safe shelter havens in times of natural disaster. So there is potentially a large gathering of people riding out the storm or going there after if they don’t have power.

Dropping in with another example of the unvaccinated adversely effecting others, showcasing why we should ALL care when people don’t get vaccinated. In this example, a military veteran, who’s job is was to defend our freedoms, died because people were selfishly exercising their freedom to not be vaccinated.

A senseless death from an ailment that could have been remedied, had there only been room.

New Orleans a city below sea level, a predicted Hurricane Ida direct hit Cat 3/4 , 15 foot storm surge, if the residents don't get out now, Katrina would be small potatoes. The official flood stage for the city levees is 17 feet. Generators that run the hospitals which patients are not evacuating could not operate if they are submerged in water. I'll pray for Louisiana. It is a great place to visit.

My cousin's husband is a paramedic in New Orleans and he worked and lived for several days at the N.O. Superdome during Katrina where thousands of locals who refused to leave went to. . What he witnessed in the non working AC facility while working was horrifying. I can't see residents going to hospitals. They would overrun the facility and unvaccinated seeking shelter in a hospital is a bad mix. . The Saints are moving to Dallas today to escape Ida coming tomorrow , great idea. I -10 West must be gridlocked to get out of the city and good luck to all finding a gas station with gas. N.O. Mayor Cantrell said there is no time to order a mandatory evacuation and she advised residents that are inside the levee zones to hunker down and ride out the storm. The Mayor must realize that people that ride out a Cat 3/4 storm will not have electricity for not weeks, but possibly months.

I guess it sounds like somebody who is very drunk trying to say "community" before they pass out!

UPDATE 7/27/2021:

UPDATE 7/11/2021: Come on, folks. Get it together.

UPDATE 6/22/2021: Well, onward and upward?

UPDATE 6/15/2021: Things are looking up! Phew, quite the year and a half, huh?

For starters, I'm a hypochondriac who lives and works in NYC. Already, we're off to a good start (and I fit the stereotype). Even with every precaution, even with assurances in print that there are no confirmed cases in the city, I'm getting a little worse for wear with each passing day. This is also crimping my desire to travel. Especially to metropolitan areas (which strike me as obviously a little more prone to spreading the virus). And if I had a trip coming up for Disney, I wonder if I'd think twice. In NYC alone, Chinatown is suffering, taxis aren't picking up asian passengers/passengers aren't stepping into taxis with asian drivers, restaurants are beginning to struggle, tourism is suffering due to the lack of international visitors.

Life is a roll of the dice. Anything can happen. Violence, accidents, transportation mishaps. But I'm wondering when (not if) the coronavirus is going to hit to the point that it affects travel and, more specifically, WDW. Does Disney have plans in place beyond limiting hours and laying off performers?

i agree

They don’t really have a choice when the community starts showing up.
They do when there is a visitor limitation. Anyone with a medical problem can check into the ER, but the pubic can and will be removed from the premises.

I’m sure there is either an outright ban or a severe limit on visitors in those hospitals because of Covid.

Even to visit someone in hospital non covid related during visitation hours when I visited a loved one - is one person per patient. You need to show ID, the staff member logs you in the computer, tell the staff member who you are visiting and walk right by the armed deputy sheriff on duty.

It was apparently always called that, but not allowed to market and advertise under EUA. One of the changes full approval brought is marketing.

Get ready for those late night TV ads. Mountain streams and fresh air, get your Comirnaty!

I guess it sounds like somebody who is very drunk trying to say "community" before they pass out!
Perhaps someone short of breath saying “I wish I had gotten Comirnaty” before the ventilator is hooked up. A much darker commercial.
