They are permitted to wear masks and are doing so in spite of feeling at many times that they are being treated in a negative way by some of their peers for doing so. What has us upset as parents is the culture against mitigations that has pervaded the schools this year. The governor has set the tone on this and as a result, simple things that could help mitigate the spread within schools are not being done.
You should know when you believe in a mitigation, of any sort, you are lumped into the group of hiding in the basement … never wanting to move forward.. scared….etc. Now it’s anti-vaccine.

Cap is right in that it is a thing being used by people against the vaccine. “Look! You are vaccinated and you still insist on wearing a mask everywhere and want mask mandates for everyone, etc. You don’t believe the vaccine works!”
Tell that to those with kids missing out on first days of school for covid related reasons. With kids really sick, isolating from others who might be at high risk. Not to mention kids hospitalized. Seriously how long into the pandemic do we need to be for this crap argument to end. I'm Seriously tired of it. It's a freaking mask. Nothing else. No matter what crazy people say our kids can handle masks. It's only adults who seem to have issues really.

Your ignorance on this issue is regrettable. Children are at meaningful risk. Eight days in, we already know of one child in the hospital due to COVID here. That’s one too many but there are sadly many others. Children who contract the virus are also spreading it to their parents and grandparents. But let’s not try to do anything to mitigate that because it’s just too darn hard.
Could be that but I see it as people should wear a mask if they want if they are vaccinated. It’s not up to you or me to point it out that they have a mask on and according to the person saying it, they don’t have too. It’s nobody’s business what that person wants to do or what makes them feel safer. Just as I am one that is vaccinated, don’t go into stores , find people that aren’t vaccinated and tell them they are idiots and need to get the shot. They should.. it’s better for everyone if they did but I don’t think it’s up to me to call someone out.
But that doesn’t make it any less absurd. We believe the exact opposite— but since so many are refusing to get the vaccine we have to keep other measures such as masking in place. The failed “honor system” from earlier this summer makes it clear everyone should be taking measures to protect themselves and others. To use that as an anti-vaccine argument is another sad attempt to die on a hill (in some tragic cases, quite literally) and distract from what should be a concerted and unified effort to stamp this thing out.
Since you asked. For the entirety 2019-2020 188 children (up to 17 YO) died from the flu. Across all of the US per the CDC. The actual number is likely significantly higher. But lets say its double and round up. For the whole year 400 deaths. Since Jan 2020 to now, around 450 died from Covid, with the numbers that we have now that are subject to change. But lets be fair and double that. 900 in the last year and a half. Almost all of that time pre-delta. Also with several months of general shutdown and a year of no school to minimize the spread. Unlike the wide open flu.
I have had people say this to me. My sister said it to me earlier this week in what turned out to be a terrible argument. I don't think the poster you quoted was saying they felt that way. I think they are saying that some vaccine hesitant people are using it that way. I have heard this. No I don't feel that way. I'm vaccinated, I rarely go anywhere, when I do I wear a mask, but I do believe that some people are using the argument of if you're still wearing a mask you don't believe your vaccine works.
Not so much hard but impractical IMO. Kids don’t wear masks properly. Many masks will not be the proper material for any type of benefit. The majority won’t fit properly. So i just see putting masks in schools as theater with little to no benefit.

I will honor any business policy if they require a mask, then I will wear it. I continue to social distance, continue to wash, sanitize , not touch my face and I've just received my third Moderna shot yesterday ( booster ), the vaccine side effects for a day wearing off around now.
My two children wear masks quite properly with no problems whatsoever. But let’s throw out the baby with the bath water because we can’t achieve 100 percent perfection?
No. Not saying that. I’m saying it’s so far off 100% it has no benefit in that type of setting. I don’t expect you to agree.
Yeah. I can’t agree with this. They don’t. Whether they don’t want to or they don’t wear them properly or they don’t fit right. They don’t handle it just fine.
From what I've seen, the kids in my area wear masks properly. Some have very unique designs on them which is neat. The comment on "kids don't handle it " - I disagree.
