Took a trip to WDW last weekend, fully vaccinated. Covid test results came back today (4-5 days after trip end) and Negative. No symptoms, but was still curious after being around so many people in close quarters.

I wasn't too worried but I know that many others are, so I figured I'd add this data point.

Went last week when Florida was “on fire” and entire family is fine. Just goes to show it’s far more likely to not come down with COVID versus catch COVID from the theme parks. But the media continues to make it seem like if you even leave your home you will get COVID. Nonsense.

Leaving your home is always a risk. A forum member recently posted that 90 out of 205 Reedy Creek firefighters at WDW are out of work for covid and or quarantine.

I guess our FDA is unaware that millions of doses of Ivermectin has been given to humans around the globe for decades with a very good safety record.

Whoever at the FDA posted that or approved it to be posted should be fired. A more reasonable tweet would have effectively given the message to not take horse pills. This was a government sponsored troll and not helping in my opinion. It was a sick burn and really funny, I'll grant you, but we sure don't like the shoe being on the other foot.

Perhaps the energy would be better spent determining whether or not this drug has a place in fighting or preventing covid.

I don't think the FDA is trying to say ivermectin is not useful drug. They are warning people not to buy ivermectin at Farm and Fleet for personal consumption. Medicine for livestock is likely to be in a concentration that is injurious to humans.

Speaking of risky, Jesse Jackson is a pretty public figure. I wonder how much he and anyone else with a breakthrough symptomatic infection practiced in the way of good habits since getting the vaccine. I'm confident there are some with breakthrough cases who have thrown caution to the wind.
It's still a good idea to mask up in public, keep greater distances than pre-covid, minimize contact, and also still wash hands well and avoid touching of face, including eyes until hands are washed or sanitized.
Our local theater started set construction this weekend and the rules are vaccinated and masked only.

And I thought I saw somewhere supposition that the reason, some areas of the world saw some benefit to patients given Ivermectin, was because parasitic infections were common in those areas. That by treating the parasitic infection, their bodies were able to have that little bit extra to successfully fight off SARS-CoV-2 infection. But all the medicine was doing was treating the parasitic infection, and nothing against COVID directly. So if Americans are asking if this can help them. The first question they should ask themselves is: "Do you think you have an untreated parasitic infection?"

The original trial also was not properly randomized. Upon review, the placebo group contained more comorbities. So, although it was presented as evidence that ivermectin is an effective COVID treatment, when those results could not subsequently be replicated under better controls, all it did was reinforce what we already knew- unhealthier people fare worse with COVID.

Jesse Jackson made news when he publicly advised he got the Pfizer vaccine in January and encouraged more to do so. On the flip side, TN conservative talk show host Phil Valentine recently succumbed to covid at age 61 and before telling his audience about downplaying covid and vaccines. He refused to get vaccinated.

My thoughts are (and again, I'm not trying to weave a conspiracy here)... Did they know there would be this "leakage"? Did they know that the spike protein would dissipate rather quickly or was it a happy accident? It makes some sense that they would as best as I can discern from your medical textbook. (still awaiting my medical degree after wading through that)

I have other thoughts pertaining to some other stuff regarding narrative but I may take that to the other forum.

The spike protein, whether generated by the virus or vaccine, lacks the HLA residue that each person's immune system uses to identify "self". A naked spike protein without the other features of a viral particle that allow it to replicate pretty much gets mopped up by the immune system very quickly. This is a deliberate feature of the vaccine. It doesn't make sense to engineer a spike proetein to feature each individual's HLA sequence, because then it wouldn't generate an immune response. Which is, of course, the whole purpose of the vaccine.

I think they will. Going by the fact the OHL and MLSE have said all fans need to be vaccinated to enter the arena, I think they are getting ready for it to come in place.

3rd state to hit 3 million cases is Florida. Surpassed by only 15 countries. That’s just reckless and a disgrace IMO. Someone here was talking about why a radio host would want their listeners to be sick or even possibly die.. you can probably ask some governors the same thing about their people in their state.

That appears to be the only convincer for some folks. For even some more, that still doesn't do the trick.
It does seem to work when someone in their 30s and 40s with families ( spouse and kids) and no previous issues with a healthy diet and impressive exercise regimen gets sick and dies within a couple of weeks or less. Sucks for the immediate families, though.

20 years from now in history books...They had a vaccine. It was free. There were so many available to them, the vaccines were starting to expire before demand/use. They had access to all kinds of sources of information, but they chose not to get the vaccine based on the advice of those who themselves got the vaccine but would not volunteer that information to their followers. There were other countries who had inferior or no vaccines which would have helped the situation had they gotten more of the excess from the US.

They are stupid enough to claim they won't get the free vaccine because "I don't know the side effects or what's in it" but yet, they'll take a medicine that is meant for horses or cows, not having the faintest clue of the ingredients.

I don't know about that... I hear sorghum and timothy hay are really nutritious. I mean, you should see how good those cows and horses down the street from me look. I'll bet you none of them caught COVID, and they're not even vaccinated!
