I think they could easily convert the space into a modern arcade. Like The Rec Room up here in Canada, or a Dave and Busters type thing.
Add dining, bars, entertainment. Could be a fun space.

But the mid 90s version was excellent and far better than the entirety of Toy Story Land. It was perfect for the park -- I'd rather have the full experience back over the combination of Galaxy's Edge and TSL.
With that said, I still agree that closing it wasn't really a mistake because of the death of the studio. It stopped making sense.

I'm not going to argue it works for D&B, but take my local mall in Chattanooga with a D&B as an example... The mall had a shooting this week, not that close to D&B but in the general area. If that had been in Disney Springs, it makes national headlines. Shops don't seem to pull bad crowds as much a places to just 'hang out'.
Disney had similar problems near the end of Pleasure Island and they decided it was easier to demolish the whole thing. I just don't see Disney going out on that limb again, especially first party. Now if they could get a third party to pay that rent, a la Splitsville? Sure.

I’m afraid to ask… are you suggesting DisneyQuest 2.0 would be original?
Disney could lean heavily on the their Villains brand. I think the market would support it and it's be the perfect counterpoint to the saccrine sweet Happyland that is Magic Kingdom. The experience could be more teen/adult themed.

Boy...I loved it and it was my favorite park after visiting during my first trip in '89. But I wouldn't go that far. I'm glad I got to experience it though. (got to look down at the Adventures in Wonderland sets being built before I ever saw the show)

Of course it's all relative and YMMV -- I think Toy Story Land is basically a waste of space, though, and Galaxy's Edge didn't do all that much for me. Rise looks amazing (I wasn't able to get on when I was last there) but Smuggler's Run just isn't very good (going through the Millenium Falcon is the highlight and much better than the actual ride) and I wasn't all that impressed by the rest of the land. Not that I think it's bad; it's highly detailed with a lot of intricate details. It just didn't really come together as a whole experience for me -- especially compared to something like Diagon Alley -- and I'm not anxiously awaiting my next visit there. There are other areas in the parks I like a lot more.
Maybe I'd feel differently about Galaxy's Edge if I still loved Star Wars the way I did when I was younger, but my interest was already waning well before the sequels came out, and they kind of killed what was left. I did not think they were very good from start to finish, although unlike many others who didn't like them I put most of the blame on Force Awakens instead of Last Jedi. It also doesn't really matter that they didn't work for me since a bunch of other people enjoyed them.

Closing Please Island had nothing to do with any issues with violence or drunk driving or whatever. Those are stories fans made up to justify the closing because they didn’t want to accept that they were convinced they could lease out the space, mostly by Steven Schussler, right before the economy tanked.
1999 NYE when DHS was MGM closing at 3am that night, multiple musical acts all around the park but Cheap Trick performing at the end of NY Street by the Backlot Tour was a great memory of an intimate concert!

It was pretty fun, although it was too heavily skewed towards redemption games IMO. I think I ended up spending a ton of my credits on just football toss/basketball shooting games because there weren't that many arcade games.
I think I still have a ticket balance I could redeem if I ever go back (and if I could find my card or whatever it's stored on), but I'm not sure I'd go back there in the limited time I spend in Toronto.
