"When Florida set its COVID-19 pandemic record for current hospitalizations in a report released Tuesday morning, it did so by blasting by 14,000 all the way past 15,000, according to statistics from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
HHS reported 15,169 inpatient beds in use for COVID-19, an increase of 1,192 from Monday’s report. And that statistical leap came from 231 hospitals, 20 fewer than were reporting to HHS the previous day. So the average number of COVID-19 patients per hospital shot from 55.7 to 65.7.
That represents 27.6% of the hospital patients in those 231 hospitals. Nationally, 10.1% of patients are hospitalized for COVID.
Intensive care units reported a congruent increase, of 225 patients to 3,060. That’s 47.2% of those hospitals’ ICU beds, compared to 21.3% across the United States."

Vaccines are shown to reduce hospitalizations but still allow for the contaction, incubation, and transmission of the virus.
My have success criteria been shifted.

If more people got vaccinated there would be less hospitalizations.

Execs with a lot of responsibility should remember one name , Dr. Barbara Jean Morris (PhD) who was the college president of SUNY- Oneonta. Under her watch approx 700 of of her students tested positive for Covid. She accepted responsibility and she resigned from her position.
With Canada legalizing recreational weed nationwide, perhaps the farmers don't want wandering eyes and ears near their grows.

Just as a test, took a screen shot of my county’s covod positive age demographics in Indiana yesterday. And again today. The 5-11 age group went up by .1% for total cases. So out of a total 9 cases today, 5 of them were in that age group

I really hope we shut it down again...there is no way the borders should be open at this point regardless of what precautions are taken. Obviously it sucks for families and people with loved ones on the other side but right now I think it is a pretty dangerous move. I think they should have pulled it back before it happened on Monday IMHO
You do understand shutting all borders includes denying travelers flying into the USA to enter?

I'm reasonably disappointed in our provincial government in Ontario. There is a LOT of pressure to bring in some form of vaccine passport but our conservative government is not budging so far. To be fair, I believe they still might. I thought it was incredibly dumb to not require our school staff and teachers NOT to be vaccinated nor kids 12+. My personal opinion is that this should be the case as well as for anyone working in health care or elder care. There should be absolutely no excuse for anyone not to have the vaccine other than legitimate medical reasons. I'm pretty concerned about the school year. We don't have kids in that age bracket but I feel for those who do. Poor management in my opinion.

correct...until we get our vaccination rates to very high levels we should not allow travel. I realize it's kind of strong but frankly, the US is a disaster right now and I don't see that correcting any time soon, unfortunately. I really hope they do as I would love to travel there. We were very disappointed to cancel our November plans to visit Florida including WDW but we thought it was the most prudent thing we could do.

Iceland, Australia, and New Zealand (probably some others as well) will be ending the pandemic before the USA. That’s for sure.

You know what's funny?
I don’t think my industry (and several others) could take a hit like that again. Many within the industry, including myself, would likely be put on furlough again. Or laid off, on top of the ones who were laid off the first time around.
