Irrelevant to my point. 50 percent fully vaccinated in Florida by next week. That is what to keep the chin up about. Celebrate that good that good people who are able and willing are the majority.

If the good people had gotten the vaccine earlier you may not be seeing such a big spike and less people would probably by dying.

Honestly even a few times a day kind of stinks. You come to work with no fever. Feel fine. Have 2nd test of the day. Totally fine. A few hours after that, you fall ill with fever. Illness spread. First covid outbreak at my aunt's LTC facility had that happen. I personally think it's not as good as people think, but to each their own.

Covid transmission seems to occur presymptomatic alot. That is One reason it is harder to contain compared to other illnesses. Even with Delta’s shorter time until symptomatic it seems to find new hosts effectively and better than the original.

Funny you should mention that… UPMC just announced last week their COVID therapeutic has shown extremely great results in not just treating COVID but also preventing COVID. This is getting literally zero news coverage and is once again proving that news outlets are not out allies in this battle against COVID. This therapeutic is expected to be in use by early 2022. Help is on the way.

Pfizer has one ( covid therapeutic) in the works too. Here is a paper from about a week ago on it:

You are probably right with all of the probably and may not. I would agree that it would have helped earlier on, but that does not negate the good news now. If you just want to pat yourself on the back of restating bad news most are already aware of, don't hurt your shoulder doing so. If people would have just worn seatbelts more and earlier we would not have had so many deaths before mandates. We know the past is wrong but we still celebrate and encourage going forward.

You dwelling on the negative does not change the fact of good news that next week the state in reference will be over 50 percent fully vaccinated. Still a milestone worth celebrating and being reminded of that it will officially be the majority of people doing the right thing.

Temperature screenings? Hasn't it been established that they are basically useless?

The unvaccinated ppl were still being required to continue screening and masks. Guess it just makes the company feel better. I don't know anyone that would drive all the way to work just to be sent back home, but sometimes managers question if someone actually has a fever when they just call from home.

Useless for one-time screenings, like at a theme park.

However, in a workplace or other environments where people are regularly tested, it's actually a great indicator of early sickness.

This is because they can establish a "base line" for individuals to see if they are above their normal temp range and compare them day to day. The reason it is useless in a place like WDW is because everyone has such varying temps, that picking a number that is "high" is too difficult and is going to vary by individual.

They don't track or record peoples temperatures. We either get a green or red box from a thermal scan. It's not that great of system IMO because sometimes it does temperature on my forehead, other times it does it on the pit of my neck. I had it flag for a sunburn when I came back from FL lol

Even in this case, by the time the worker found out, they were symptomatic too which really didn't help. It was in the wing that my aunt was in when she was alive so a lot of fairly frail people too. They tried, but it failed miserably. First major outbreak in my area in a LTC too.

In my point of view, all the new hirings and reopenings show there will not a backward move now, even if the covid wave will be huge for a while.

It’s really incomprehensible to me that it’s a news story that school districts are allowed to keep kids actively positive with Covid out of school. This is going to be a rough Fall in a lot of places . Pretending away Covid has been shown to be ineffective over and over.

It had to be clarified because certain individuals want to make assumptions based on inaccurate reporting. There was never a debate about it. Some were just looking to make one.

I cannot remember if it has been posted here recently, but the largest LTC company is making it mandatory for staff to be vaccinated.

My wife was working with somebody who passed the temp check in the morning and felt fine all day except started coughing in the middle of the day. No other symptoms and they were joking that maybe you have COVID. Well, they did.

I guess the Moderna vaccine works pretty well because my wife was next to her (2-3 feet at most times) for around six hours and didn't develop any symptoms at all.
