I just wanted to personally thank everyone who calmed my fears a little bit by personally responding to my previous post. So far I’m just going to keep it as it is and hope that the numbers in October go down. I don’t mind wearing a mask indoors, but I’m not really a fan of wearing it outside in the Florida heat. I went last November just me and my wife, thinking I can handle it with no problem, but there was times I was struggling for breath it seemed. I have seen that there is a huge uptick in vaccinations and that’s giving me some hope. I hope more vaccinations will happen and people will start to lose their fear of them and realize it’s for the greater good. Thank you all again.

Thank you for your thoughts. Some I know even myself were aware and some scared of possible side effects from Moderna. The side effects reared its ugly head w/ me for a difficult 23 hours after my second shot in February. I got through it and moved on.

COVID ICU beds are completely isolated from other ICU uses.

The impacts on staffing aren’t. Increased beds without increases in caregivers up and down the spectrum is a meaningless statistic. Probably what Advent meant with black status alleviating some of the surge impacts.

When we were at our previous peak last year, the national guard told the governor “good luck,” even with the physical ability to build out a field hospital at the fairgrounds.

I think you assume Moderna is better because your spouse didn't get sick and you did. So you assume different things than I do or are looking for reasons why your spouse did not get sick. I can tell you I know equal for each of yes and nos for breakthrough cases in same house. Again S, Africa and S. America had different variants too. Not apples and apples.

My thoughts remain. Not long ago Pfizer-BioNTech said good at 6 months. Now Moderna says same up to 6 months. I think we'll see similar in the end. But it's a guess based on what I've read over the course of time....

Actually I usually qualify things that I assume or are anecdotal in my text. I try to make sure they do not overly influence how I present other data. I assume it does cause a selection bias in what I look for. But I actually find facts that refute my assumptions, research, and anecdotal evidence stimulating.

But in regards to Moderna and Pfizer it is their own studies that are stating the decline.

Meta-analysis of studies can be wrong because of unconsidered variables ( such as different phase 3 demographics, and perhaps time of studies ), but on the face of it Pfizer VE goes down faster than Moderna.

We’re fully vaccinated but have responsibility for elder care and exposure to young kids. I also have a risk factor.

We’re at WDW now. It’s very possible to avoid indoor dining. We’ve done a lot of mobile ordering and have eaten at outdoor tables including poolside.

Masks indoors are no issue for us we do that at home. We have masked up outside in crowded situations such as EPCOT Food and Wine. I agree it’s tough due to heat. We did it bc the lines were so long but we didn’t love it.

We’re DVC and so rides aren’t a must do for us we can save those for another visit.

We’re going to quarantine and test once we get home.

Out next trip is Nov and we think things are going to settle down by then so no plans to cancel.

Fraud is fraud. They should also mandate vaccines for all prison inmates. Not sure if that’s happened or not. Then you lie about vaccine status, get thrown into Federal prison and then you get stuck with a needle anyway. Better to just get the shot

There are times that a go-it-alone, individualistic mindset can be an asset, but for the challenges that currently stand before us (and Covid is just one of them), we need collective action.

Collective action ended a long time ago in the US.

The reasons are many and plenty of blame to go around.

Covid merely mirrors that.

My SIL finally decided to get the vaccine; I know it was a hard choice for her, so I am proud. She has auto immune issues and is 33 weeks pregnant. Her doctor told her she should still get it because they are admitting newborns into the hospital from mothers that had the Delta variant. This is the first I heard of this, so I'm not sure how accurate it is, but it convinced her to get it for her baby. One of our employees finally decided to get the shot too. He is going to the UK, and buying a house. Figured if he got the shot, he doesn't have to quarantine in the UK and can be there for the closing (rather than work shipping him out 10 days earlier). So slowly, minds are changing. Just have hope.

One of my hold out coworkers just got his first jab the other day, the gaming control
board threatened to reduce our capacity to 50% if we don’t have a set percent of employees vaccinated, it’s still sad that we’re down from a few million vaccinations a day (a few months ago) to a half million a day now but every bit helps.
