What’s your plan if they bring back mandates?

I don’t see anyone masking right now.

If people here are concerned in the least they sure aren’t showing it.

Well I’m not a jerk, so if government brings back mask mandates, I’ll comply. That’s what members of society do.

I don’t believe that will happen though. I’ve been staying informed and avoiding the sensationalism and overly pessimistic outlooks and I feel pretty safe so far. I’ve always been cautious where COVID is concerned, but not terribly worried given the actual statistics and our lifestyle.

I agree that people have gone back to pre-pandemic mode. I can see government doing more to encourage vaccines, but from what I see masks and other mitigations probably won’t return. We’ll have to do our best to live with COVID.

You have to look at the sample sizes.

34,380,019 cases, 608,403 deaths.
6,218,406 cases age 18-29, 2,732 deaths. Plus at least 1 double lung transplant.

163,025,726 fully vaccinated, 3 deaths from side effects.

1.7696, 0.0439, 0.0000018

So sure we can call the second two both “zero”, but the first one is 24 thousand times bigger.

That’s why the “but the vaccine risk” is discounted and the “young people are fine” is not. The lung one, assuming it’s the only one, is an exaggeration, it’s a risk but super low, more likely to just die.

This is also why there is so much vaccine safety testing. They know the vaccine sample size will be enormous. Large enough that even small things would impact an absolute number if there was an issue.

At even that very low rate, for the 2,732 people in that group, the impact was dramatic. Better to vaccinate and avoid even that small chance, since the impact is so severe.

I think the number 3 is insanely low. when someone dies in a hospital with covid, they don’t say “well they probably would have died anyways, can’t be proven.”

The people that don't want to wear masks just don't want to be inconvenienced or slightly annoyed. And, apparently, as we are learning, just really like being up close enough to lick total strangers in public. Staying a few feet apart from others impedes on their "freedom".

Now it’s people who don’t want to wear a mask who are the problem.

The masks don’t do anything because the people who refuse to get vaccinated also refuse to mask.

So let’s force the people who are vaccinated to mask up and have a .0392839 percent effect on things!!

Masks create a very real quality of life issue for a whole lot of people. You don’t have to like it, you don’t have to agree with it, you can sit in judgment of those people all you like. That’s completely your call. But saying that making people wear masks is a non-issue is incorrect. Judge away - that’s what the internet does best.

Exactly, the idiots refusing the vaccine are the same ones who refuse masks. Bringing back masks is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. Just start requiring vaccination proof for things like going to WDW. See how fast these nuts line up for it. (Yes I know there’s a law in Fl that says you can’t require proof.)
