You got that right. It probably accounts for the percentage of personal acquaintances that I know who have had the disease. A LOT of people here have had it. A LOT of people had it and found out later they had it. My sister and her family are one such case.

Ohio gov. just announced dropping all mandates in 3 weeks (though businesses are allowed to keep them). Also a $1MM lottery for a vaccinated Ohioan and a full-ride 4-yr scholarship for a kid that gets the vaccine.

Edit, was typing at same tome as Chomama. Probably cheaper than WV's $100 per person, just a different way of doing it. Encouraged businesses to offer incentives. And strongly encouraged everyone to get the vaccine.

The NY system at least verified with the provider. There was a kickstarter that would get you 5 bands, color coded, for the same $20 I think. About as useful, especially the one that said "I'm infectious, stay away".


If you already have a magic band that looks like this, just wear that. You can people the vaccine is just like magic. :) It kind of is, so it's truthful in that sense.

You are right... it "proves" nothing. Even a CDC Card can be faked.

And the NY system IS far superior. But the US Govt won't give us one :(. So I agree with your statement - a NATIONAL system, much like NYs, would be FAR better for everyone. We just do what we can do, in a vacuum of leadership.

I remain amazed that the US could pull off a moon shot in the late '60s, with crap computers - but can't provide recognized vaccination verification in 2021.

I'm hoping that if the low states stay low and prevent us from being able to get past the pandemic, that either the vaccine passport laws will get shot down in court and/or Biden will use an executive order to mandate vaccination and vaccine passports for particular activities. Yes, I'm hard-core when it comes to important things - ask my sons...they'll tell you.

not gonna happen...too many hurdles to jump with zero co-operation.

we’re actually “anti-cooperation” at this point. It’s not just “no”...it’s: “how do I sabotage everything and fit it in a tweet under my name?”

the “soul” battle wasn’t over...it’s just getting started.

its “modern realities” vs “20th century longing”...sometimes even “19th century longing 😳”

that’s really where we are. And it’s unfortunate that it even is a “thing”

As @Sirwalterraleigh stated many pages ago, this is not the roll up your sleeves, get it done, WW2 generation that would have arms out for God and country. So yeah, there's a point that I am getting to that wouldn't mind a hard push.

Me too. I will be shocked if it happens. I think the airlines could lead the way but have no confidence that they will. I know people that would get vaccinated to travel freely and have been traveling this entire time. If they were told - no more Bahamas trips - they would get a shot eventually

Travel seems to be a key incentive. I know a few people who got the vaccine because they assumed it would be needed to travel. Good thing they never checked and you guys know I wouldn’t tell them ;););)

Maybe this makes sense, but my cynical side wonders if this will just delay vaccine uptake. I mean, why get it now and get a free train ticket? If I hold out for a month or three maybe I'll get even better incentives...

Because a lot of people just don't see it as a threat.
