What really is a bit mind blowing is to remember that Citywalk reopened May 14, 2020. I know it’s all a blur to a lot of people, but we’ve now approached a full year of theme park protocols and adjustments. I don’t know how many expected we would simply be adjusting to 3 feet distancing after a full year

Did I hallucinate that FOTLK was supposed to return this month? Have they said when? We will be there next in a week and would LOVE to see that show again in any capacity but it seems unlikely to resume when we're there.

I think they said mid-May. Not sure if there’s an official opening date.

Not that I’ve seen. As expected, Universal will likely lead with protocol changes.

May 16th is when Disney is doing the same thing, just got the word. (And the rumor is --and only a rumor-- the 3ft thing also even though they only announced the temp checks, but they are waiting to see how it goes at Universal.)

It boggles my brain a little bit that certain things might not return before the mask mandate is gone. I actually support keeping the mask requirement for a little while longer but I assumed most of this stuff would be back before then. Port Orleans still closed. Certain live shows. No fireworks or parades. Capacity still reduced by quite a lot. I'm sure there's some reason but I was so bummed that Port Orleans has no estimated return date. It's such a lovely resort and the food is so good. It was our tradition to go to Boatwrights even when we weren't staying there. It's wild to think that restaurant has been collecting cobwebs for over a year now! I've heard that they technically don't allow people to resort hop for quick service food. I don't know if that's a new general rule or a covid rule. I'm sure people bend it all the time but I'm a rule follower lol

Hmmmmmm very interesting information just now from the CDC regarding cruising......

It seems from my reading, the CDC will allow cruise lines to make their own decision whether to require guests to be fully vaccinated or not.

CDC is allowing test cruises from US parts to start with guests who are NOT vaccinated.

We are getting to the end of the things that were removed simply for safety reasons, and getting down to the things that are remaining closed of financial reasons.

We are still missing International guests so even if Domestic tourism was back 100% by July 1 WDW would still be missing 20% of their normal guests. Not sure the exact numbers but the remaining rooms at resorts without a reopening date are probably around that percentage.

They've now announced it -

"With new guidance from the CDC and other health leaders in mind, Universal Orlando Resort is doing away with temperature screenings and reducing social distancing requirements at its theme parks.

Effective Thursday, guests will no longer have their temperature checked before entering the property and the social distancing markers will be scooched closer from 6 feet to 3 feet.

While those two changes are taking place, the theme park doesn’t have plans to make amendments to its other coronavirus safety precautions just yet, including its mask mandate."

“The health and safety of our guests and team members is always our top priority. We continue to review the CDC guidelines and work with local health officials as we update our health and safety protocols,” a Universal spokeswoman said in a statement. “Based on guidance from government and local health officials, as of Thursday, May 6, we are implementing three feet of social distancing throughout our destination and are no longer conducting temperature checks. All other existing health and safety protocols will remain in place.”

Hopefully you aren't referring to me as "that one guy" - because I never said anything about rooting for anything of the sort.

I didn’t name anyone on purpose. If you’re not that guy, you’re not. I don’t even remember who it was, so I couldn’t tell you either. But, I’m sure there is one, and they know it, and accept it, whomever it is.

My city announced our parade and fireworks are on. City of Columbus has not said no yet...

I don't think our town has mentioned them...and the 4th fireworks are pretty big around here because of the history of the area.

Ours announced it sometime kind of recently. I want to say sometime in the last month but I've been insane doing stuff for a weird socially distanced recorded middle school show so I hardly know what day it is lol.

You’re missing a major point: International tourists can’t come here. And American tourists aren’t leaving America.

So those Americans who might typically go to Europe or a cruise during the summer... may now go to Disney.

So fewer international tourists than usual. But an increase in domestic.
